More than 400 members of the teaching staff work at the Institute of Engineering and Technology of South Ural State University. Scientists and graduate students of South Ural State University, together with colleagues from India, have developed and patented a biodegradable material based on starch for food packaging. It will reduce environmental pollution from polyethylene and plastic. This unique material will be produced from plant biopolymers (by-products of grain processing) using ultrasound and existing technological equipment, significantly reducing the production cost.
The research by the Ural language scholars from Ural State Pedagogical University, Ekaterinburg, and from SUSU, Chelyabinsk, is devoted to political linguistics, in particular to the field of studying the metaphors that function in political discourse. The use of the Russian language resources helps develop political communication in society and understand the hidden meaning in the speeches of political leaders.
Artificial intelligence can help control the flow of traffic in cities. Scientists from South Ural State University have taught a neural network to do this, having developed an intellectual system for monitoring the flow of traffic in real time. The group have obtained a patent for this unique technology, and now it’s being prepared for a pilot run.

Water pollution is one of the problems that industrial regions face. It can be solved by purifying waste water from plants and factories before it reaches water bodies used by the public. Modern means of treatment are effective, but expensive or inconvenient to use. However, SUSU scientists have developed a new method of obtaining material for waste water treatment that supersedes the existing analogues. A patent has already been obtained for the development.
New chemical compounds that suppress viruses and fungi were synthesized by scientists from South Ural State University and the Institute of Organic Chemistry Russian Academy of Sciences, together with an international team of scientists. The research was a significant step forward. The results of the fundamental work were published in the journal Antibiotics (Q1).

Scientists at South Ural State University (SUSU) have discovered that the extract of a common weed plant Bidens pilosa, is a promising source of enzymes for the food industry. According to the authors, the substances obtained from a series of compounds can become cheaper plant alternative to expensive enzymes necessary in winemaking and cheese making. The study is published in the International Journal of Scientific and Technology Research.

Upon successful completion of the training, students will receive certificates from University of Science and Technology, Beijing. You can choose a program for a semester (March 2021 - June 2021), or for a year (March 2021 - January 2022).
On December 22th, a meeting was held at South Ural State University, where the problems of the BRICS countries and issues of their interaction with international partners were discussed. The meeting involved three committees, who considered international cooperation in health care, education and economy, the impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic on these fields, and future prospects.

Last week, the online closing ceremony of the City of Kind Hearts project took place. The organizers summed up the results of the event, in which over 450 volunteers from our city took part during one and a half month. The Multidiscipline College of South Ural State University celebrates its 45th birthday in December.
The history of the Multidiscipline College began in 1975, when the Technical Vocational School No. 109 was created to train workers for the system of consumer services for the population of the Chelyabinsk Region by order of the Chelyabinsk Regional Department of Vocational Education. The opening of the school took place in December 1975.
