Artush Karapetyan's exhibition “Creation of Beauty” has opened in the Art Gallery of South Ural State University. The Armenia-born artist now lives in the sunny city of Troitsk. The author of the works arrived in Chelyabinsk at the invitation of the staff of the SUSU Art Museum.
“I accidentally got acquainted with the works by Artur Karapetyan in the exhibition hall of the Public Library and could not pass by works with such a colour scheme! In our hall there are 27 paintings made in the technique of oil painting. Artush Karapetyan does not adhere to a single style, genre or direction, in some of his works the influence of Van Gogh, Gauguin, Modigliani, Saryan can be guessed, but to a greater extent the character of Armenian culture is expressed,” says Anatoly Razuev, Head of the SUSU Art Museum.
The artist admits to be very curious, which is why his works are so diverse in content.
“I am always on the trail, I don’t stop at one thing, I like to get to know the artists, take something from everyone. My artist friends create such masterpieces, I get inspired by them,” says Artush Karapetyan. “My muse is life in its diversity. I like youth, spring, rebirth, but with age I also have fallen in love with the harsh winter, cold and dirt, because as an artist I see something good everywhere, a beauty that others do not see."
The audience takes Artush Karapetyan not only as a hedonist artist, but also as an artist-philosopher, a thinker who reflects on God, the nature of creativity, good and evil, and spirituality.
“The works reflect the author, who is an extraordinary and bright artist, a charming person,” says Anatoly Kostyuk, Chairman of the Chelyabinsk regional branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. “I am sure that the exhibition will have a tremendous response, there is a lot of sun, bright emotions, and there are also philosophical things. But in all works there is love for life and art. It is clear that for Artush Karapetyan it is not a profession, but a way of life.”
Addressing students who are looking for their vocation today, Artush Karapetyan has stressed that he does not know the profession better than that of an artist. According to him, he knew from childhood that he would paint pictures.
“Become artists yourselves, or have friendly relations with them, they are good people,” smiles Artush Karapetyan. “You may be hungry, but nothing can replace the pleasure that you get while working on a painting. I think only God felt better when he created the world."
The exhibition is open to visitors at the SUSU Art Gallery (76 Lenin Prospekt) until March 16, 2021. Opening hours: from 10:00 to 17:00, on Saturday - from 10:00 to 15:00, admission is free.
