Alumni of SUSU’s Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service are not used to “sitting on the sidelines”. Alumnus of ISTS takes prize-winning places at high-ranked sport competitions, takes part in conceptual projects of the region, organises status contests and festivals, and has an active life stance.
April 10th through April 13th of 2019 an International Education Fair was held in Moscow. The MIEF is one of the major open forums in the field of education, as well as a big-scale exhibition of modern educational technologies, infrastructure and smart solutions. The Fair is being held at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNH) starting from 2014.
Last weekend, on February 23-24, the quarter-final games of the Student Hockey League took place in the Traktor Ice Arena. Two teams met on the ice, Polytechnik Ice Hockey Team and Urozhay Ice Hockey Team (Novosibirsk).
It is worth noting that the players have met on the ice multiple times and every time Polytechnik turned to be stronger, and the playoff games were no exception. Despite the active struggle of both teams in the course of two games, Polytechnik won the victory. The meetings ended with the score 3: 0 and 8: 3 in favour of the South Ural team.
Choosing a university is one of the most serious decisions in everyone’s life. For many applicants, the deciding factor in enrolling in a university is the affordability of education. South Ural State University offers around 3,000 state scholarships annually.
This year, according to Order No.346 of the Ministry of Education as of 28.04.2018, a big number of state scholarships will be offered for technical, natural science, and humanitarian fields of higher education.
Russian cross-country skiing team has won gold in the World Cup relay for the first time in the recent five years. SUSU student Artem Maltsev from Chelyabinsk made his contribution to the team’s success.

At the end of 2018, a book entitled “The system of sport reserve training: age peculiarities of efficient adaptation and maintenance of teenagers’ health” was published. This is a result of joint efforts scientists from South Ural State University (National Research University), Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health, Tyumen State University and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

A meeting between well-known and young researchers from Russia, Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, Iraq, and other countries was held on December 6th and 7th at SUSU.
On December 15 of 2018, South Ural State University is to celebrate the 75th anniversary from its foundation day. Active preparation for the celebration, which is going to take place within five days, 10th through 14th of December, is being carried out at SUSU. Celebratory event programme will include opening of new laboratories and exhibitions, as well as presentations, concerts, flash mobs, contests and more.
A series of celebratory events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the university continues at South Ural State University. On the occasion of the university’s 75th anniversary, Directors of Schools and Institutes awarded letters of appreciation and honorary credentials to outstanding academics and administrative staff.
On December 10, Traktor Stars versus Polytechnic Stars hockey match dedicated to the 75th anniversary of SUSU is to take place on the SUSU hockey arena (82 Lenin prospect, near the Student’s Hospital) at 1.30 p.m. Organiser of the exhibition match is the Physical Education and Sports Club and the SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service.
The teams include famous hockey players, winners of national and international competitions of the highest level.
Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service of South Ural State University (National Research University) holds the III International Conference “Innovations in Sport, Tourism, and Education” – “icISTIS – 2018”. The conference will take place on December 6-7, 2018 and become a site uniting distinguished and young scientists from Russia, Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, Iraq, and many other countries.
In the period from 28 to 30 November, Associate Professor of the Department of Tourism and Socio-Cultural Service, Candidate of Sciences (Pedagogy) of the SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism and ServiceYulia Syromyatnikova took part in the workshop on sustainable energy and climate change in Russia. The event was organised by Nottingham Trent University and the Altai State University.
The International Youth Cooking Festival has already become a good tradition at South Ural State University. For the twelfth time in a row SUSU will welcome those for whom cooking is something more than just making dishes. It is art that requires patience, meticulous work and creativity. A cooking festival is but another step closer to the goal for those who decided to build a career in cooking.
It is planned that the festival programme will comprise five sections:

On October 10 and 11, secondary school students of the Sovetsky District of Chelyabinsk got acquainted with South Ural State University in the Palace of Culture named after D.V. Kolyushchenko.

In 2014, ISTiS Tour small innovative enterprise was created at South Ural State University. Within several years of the enterprise’s existence, employees of the travel agency organised tours for more than 6 thousand clients. Director of the ISTiS-Tour, Tatiana Nazaykina, told us about tourism sphere condition and the company’s development.
On September 21-23 of 2018, an interuniversity ice hockey tournament among student teams was held in the city of Tambov, where South Ural State University’s Polytechnic Hockey Team was among participants.

The major university event took place on the last summer day when SUSU held a matriculation ceremony for freshers. The formal welcome was among a broad range of events organised by SUSU, including the senior staff’s presentations on the University’s recent achievements in education, research, and quality of life on campus.
