Weekly News

It’s been a week since the beginning of the new academic year. Below is a quick round-up of the most important events of the past week - and where to read more on the SUSU website.

The major university event took place on the last summer day when SUSU held a matriculation ceremony for freshers. The formal welcome was among a broad range of events organised by SUSU, including the senior staff’s presentations on the University’s recent achievements in education, research, and quality of life on campus.

Last Friday, rector of South Ural State University Aleksandr Shestakov met with the university staff and students, marking the start of the new academic year. Following the official meeting, SUSU held opening ceremonies for brand-new university facilities, including Business Development Centre and Accounting and Financial Analysis Laboratory (School of Economics & Management), and an indoor climbing wall at the university sports centre (Institute of Sport, Tourism & Service).

The Department of Military Education cut a ribbon to mark the opening of two-storey Armoured Fighting Vehicles and Rocket Artillery Laboratory. Leaving aside the formalities of the day, the University threw a subsequent matriculation party, inducting students into their new home. Chanting SUSU is your journey to success, students gazed up at the spectacular fireworks over the golden spire of South Ural State University.
