Christmas Blues New Year's concert, which featured performers from the SUSU jazz orchestra and the Baby Jazz municipal children jazz studio, was held at South Ural State University Assembly Hall on December 20th.
The concert was inspired to be organised by musician and composer, founder and artistic director of the jazz orchestra of the SUSU Recreation Centre Georgiy Anokhin. He has been engaged in this activity for over 20 years and has been shaping the musical taste of residents of our city. People have been getting to know good jazz music for many years now.
At the initiative of the Institute of Law of South Ural State University, the International Futsal Tournament among the teams of the BRICS countries is organised at the Dynamo sports club December 18th through December 20th.
Twice a year, the conference reviews students' achievements in experimental and project activities and presents new scientific developments and technologies. Over two days, thirty-three reports from 1st- to 4th-year students and postgraduates were heard at the scientific meeting.
December 16th-17th, the 2nd All-Russian Conference on the “Modern Materials and Methods of Solving Ecological Problems in Post-industrial Agglomerations” with international participation is being held at South Ural State University. This event has gathered together chemists, ecologists, and biotechnologists from universities of the Urals, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, as well as participants from Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia.
South Ural State University has celebrated its 81st anniversary. Marking this event, the Chelyabinsk State Philharmonic Hall prepared a gift: a “Bird of Happiness” symphonic music concert by the Ural Brass Orchestra and soloists of the Philharmonic Hall.

The first Russian Student Broadcasting Television and Radio Company SUSU-TV is turning 20 years old. In honour of the anniversary, our university held a special session dedicated to the development of student television: "University Television and Radio Company SUSU-TV: From Student Television to a Regional Media Centre".
The Head of the SUSU Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Deputy Director of SUSU-TV Television and Radio Company, Doctor of Sciences (Philology), Professor, Honoured Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation Liudmila Shesterkina talks about how the idea of student television and radio broadcasting was born, about the people who brought it to life, about plans and prospects.
– How did the idea of creating a university television and radio company come about?
As part of the Vsegda ryadom (Always Nearby) campaign, 80 tons of food were delivered to the Kursk Region. The organizers of the humanitarian campaign are the SoyuzMash Russian Engineering Union and the League for Assistance to Defence Enterprises with the support of the Rostekh State Corporation.
The Chairman of the Kursk regional branch of SoyuzMash, General Director of the V.V. Tarasov Aviaavtomatika company, which is part of the KRET Rostekh State Corporation, Aleksandr Popov personally handed over the cargo to the Acting Governor of the region Aleksandr Khinshtein.
A ceremonial gathering of scientific dynasties of the South Ural region was organised at the Chelyabinsk Region Government Administration on December 16th. 12 scientific dynasties from 6 leading universities, including from South Ural State University, took part in the awarding ceremony.

Within the frameworks of the project on the "Development of New Quantum Technologies for Estimating Unknown Parameters", specialists of the SUSU Quantum Engineering of Light Laboratory work on creating a sensor for measuring small displacements and related physical quantities.
The developments within the frameworks of this project are led by the head of the SUSU Quantum Engineering of Light Laboratory and scientific director of the Quantum Technology Centre of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Doctor of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics), Professor Sergey Kulik.
During the final seminar-meeting of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, letters of gratitude were awarded to universities that are most active in the media sphere and that were included in the Top 20 of the M-RATE ranking of Russian universities based on the results of the year ending.

December 12th is the official day of the Constitution adoption in the Russian Federation. It is a nationwide holiday. The fundamental law of a country is an integral part of itssovereignty.
The opening of “The Path to Interethnic Unity” interactive exhibition and a lecture on the topic of friendship of peoples was held at South Ural State University on the Constitution Day of the Russian Federation on December 12th.
The exhibition was organised in a format of a labyrinth of stands, where the images generated by the neural network reflect values that unite the whole multinational people of our country.
Master's degree students at the "Heart of the Urals" Advanced Engineering School of Engine Building and Special Equipment successfully completed internship under the "Transport with Traction Electric Drive and Hydrogen Fuel Cells" program at the NAMI Research and Education Centre Federal State Unitary Enterprise. The main goal of the internship was to deepen knowledge in the field of modern energy-efficient transport.
Students mastering the State and Municipal Administration programme at the Department of Economic Theory, Regional Economics, and State and Municipal Management of the SUSU School of Economics and Management have participated in public hearings on draft decisions of the Chelyabinsk City Duma.
Timofey Chebotaev, a fourth-year student of the Department of Technology and Design at the SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service, has won prizes in the competition of creative works of students, Master's degree students and postgraduates in the field of Technology of Artistic Processing of Materials, which took place within the framework of the International Science-to-practice Conference "Science and Creativity in the Technology of Artistic Processing of Materials" at Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University.
As part of the Vivacity and Health Spartakiad, table tennis competitions among employees, teachers, postgraduate students and their family members were held at South Ural State University.
The goal of the Spartakiad is to encourage university employees to actively engage in sports, not only to improve their health, but also to prepare for taking the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex "Ready for Labor and Defence" (GTO) standards test.
Obtaining RVPO (Temporary Residence Permit for Education Purposes) is becoming more and more popular. As compared to last year, international students tend to choose this option to study in Russia more often by 50%.

On December 7th, an interactive Open House Day for applicants — Professions Guide Day was held at South Ural State University. The Institute of Law, School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, and Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service took part in this event, along with the Multidiscipline College and the Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant's Engineering and Technology subdivision of the Multidiscipline College.
Heroes of the Fatherland Day, a holiday that symbolizes deeds of those who demonstrated valour, courage, and bravery in their service to our Motherland, is celebrated in Russia on December 9th. South Ural State University is proud of its students and alumni who were awarded the most honourable title of the Hero of Russia.
Albert Zainullin is a student of the State and Municipal Administration programme of the SUSU Institute of Open and Distance Education. He enrolled in the university in the summer of 2024.
An open lecture by Olga Solopova, Doctor of Sciences (Philology), Professor of the Department of Linguistics and Translation Studies of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications was held at the Faculty of Roman and German Philology of South Ural State University (National Research University) on December 2nd. The lecture was devoted to the topic of “Russia in a Metaphorical Mirror: Traditions and Innovations” and was organised as part of scientific cooperation between South Ural State University, Kuban State University and Pyatigorsk State University.
On December 5th, the Rector of South Ural State University Alexander Wagner and CEO of AO Centre for Biometric Technologies Vladislav Povolotsky signed a cooperation agreement aimed at developing educational and scientific projects in the field of biometrics and information technology.
The document envisages joint work in a key area – training young specialists in biometric systems and information security.
Yana Zaripova, a Master’s student of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, has become a winner in the “Breakthrough of the Year” category of the “SHUM” national youth award in the field of media and journalism!
The girl is working at the SUSU-TV Television Company as a director, cameraperson and editing director for the “Avenue of the Young” student broadcast about talented youth. Yana also directed several short films.
