As part of the Vivacity and Health Spartakiad, table tennis competitions among employees, teachers, postgraduate students and their family members were held at South Ural State University.
The goal of the Spartakiad is to encourage university employees to actively engage in sports, not only to improve their health, but also to prepare for taking the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex "Ready for Labor and Defence" (GTO) standards test.
"There are several championships in tennis. This tournament is dedicated to the 81st anniversary of our university's foundation," said Vladimir Iakovlev, Chairman of the Sports and Health Commission of the SUSU Trade Union. "Here, candidates for the university team are considered. Our tennis players compete in the Spartakiad every year."
The competition was held among men, women and mixed teams. Tennis players played several games, changing their partners.
"I have been playing table tennis since childhood, and I believe that physical education is very useful for all SUSU employees. Our university sports complex provides the opportunity to practice different sports," noted the finalist among men, First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov.
The best athletes (members of the SUSU national teams) will take part in the 61st Spartakiad of Ural and Siberian universities in Kurgan.
"I really enjoyed being both a participant and an organizer," said Kseniia Dudnik, winner among the women’s teams. "I was asked to participate and share my experience since I am a master of sports. The opponents turned out to be very worthy."
At the end of the competition, the names of the winners were announced. The winners of prize places were awarded certificates and sweet gifts.
