The Train of Friendship has arrived to its destination. The week-long journey with a special crew of conductors started in Chelyabinsk and finished in Adler. Conductors were recruits of Russian Student Unions from the Ural Federal District and the Volga Federal District.
On August 31st, a series of festivities dedicated to the Knowledge Day will be held at South Ural State University. The events will include the 2019 Matriculation Ceremony.
At 10:00, the SUSU Education and Sports Complex will open its renovated indoor athletic stadium. Here, unique works have been performed on creating of a race track with special coating, which complies with the Olympic standards, and the climbing wall’s area has been expanded.
The period of educational training and internships is wrapping up at South Ural State University. Within the frameworks of agreements with big companies of the Chelyabinsk Region and other regions, students obtain work experience at real productions during summer season. In particular, students of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics took internship both in Chelyabinsk and in other cities across Russia.

Scientists of the South Ural State University have improved and patented an ECG pillow. It allows contactless monitoring of the newborns’ heart rate with high accuracy but also to observe their breathing. The device will minimize Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
South Ural State University was visited by Culture and Education Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the Russian Federation, Bassim Hasan Al-Haideri. It is planned to open the laboratory at a Sports Science Research Centre of South Ural State University in 2019. Scientists of the South Ural State University are engaged in the creation of a multifunctional carbon sorbent. The material will be able to absorb both several types of harmful substances produced in industrial production and selectively sorb individual organic substances. The original sorbent can be targeted at the most hazardous pollutants, the absorption of which will be a priority for it. On this topic, a scientific article was published in the journal Refractories and Industrial Ceramics, indexed by Scopus and Web of Science databases.

Very soon, South Ural State University will welcome about 4,000 first-year students. This year, two staff members of Tajik Technical University enrolled in state-funded postgraduate studies at South Ural State University. They will complete training in the Institute of Architecture and Construction and the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Scientists of the South Ural State University for the first time investigated the physical properties and structure of one of the aromatic compounds - perinone. This substance is widely used in industry as a dye. Scientists from South Ural State University have improved gas microturbines for producing electric energy and heat. The special design will make them more reliable and environmentally friendly since toxic substances will not form or will be technologically suppressed during turbine operation.
