The Olympiad is held in two categories: the English Language, and the German Language. More than 800 students from 20 Russian universities took part in the qualifying round, which took place online in the form of electronic testing. Participants who successfully passed the qualifying round have been invited to the final round, which takes place at South Ural State University April 8th through April 9th.

A project aimed at finding a cure for the coronavirus infection has received a BRICS grant. The research is carried out by the SUSU scientists jointly with their foreign colleagues. They will be testing the efficiency of long-known drugs, as well as assessing the effect of concentrated natural substances on fighting against the disease.

Scientists from South Ural State University have made a step forward in studying organic compounds of antimony. The have examined the reaction of pentaphenyl antimony with several acids. The product obtained as a result of the experiment can potentially become a photocatalyst for water treatment, and can also be used in medicine. The research results have been published in Russian Journal of General Chemistry (Q3, indexed in Scopus).

Today we have talked with a young scientist, Candidate of Sciences (Engineering) Ildar Rakhmatulin, a graduate of the SUSU Faculty of Power Engineering. After receiving his Candidate degree in engineering, he went to work in Tokyo. Now he takes part in non-standard scientific projects.
