Continuing the project on searching for effective drugs, South Ural State University (SUSU) scientists have conducted research for finding new potential inhibitors active against SARS-CoV-2 3CLpro. The work has been based on the QSAR predictive model and data from the list of approved drugs. Results of the research have been published in the highly rated journal Molecular Diversity (Q2).
Today the Council of University Rectors of the Chelyabinsk Region has held a meeting chaired by the SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov. The study of a high-entropy material with a perovskite structure was carried out by scientists from the South Ural State University (SUSU). They obtained a new material with a high configurational entropy of mixing and evaluated the effect of changing its chemical composition on physical properties. The study was published in the highly-rated journal Ceramics International (Q1).

The project of the Association—an adaptation program for international students We Are in Russia—won the grant competition. The project involves conducting classes aimed at integrating international students into the socio-cultural and legal environment of Russia.
Scientists from South Ural State University (SUSU) presented a material that cleans water bodies from heavy metals and blocks their return to the environment. The sorbent has already been tested on water samples contaminated due to the activities of an operating enterprise. Some positive results have been achieved. The scientists described the sorption mechanism and the effect of the blocking material in an article for the highly-rated journal Nanomaterials (Q1).
It is possible to recycle toxic copper waste. Scientists at South Ural State University (SUSU) are developing an environmentally friendly recycling approach to returning valuable metals to production as raw materials and sending the rest to the oil industry.
