Young people are invited to participate in solving pressing socio-economic issues of Russian regions, cities, and villages.

In 2022 the All-Russian educational project My Country—My Russia celebrated its 19th anniversary. The contest is one of the projects of the Russia Is a Land of Opportunities presidential platform.

SUSU Scientists Predict Four Potential Inhibitors of Coronavirus Protease

Continuing the project on searching for effective drugs, South Ural State University (SUSU) scientists have conducted research for finding new potential inhibitors active against SARS-CoV-2 3CLpro. The work has been based on the QSAR predictive model and data from the list of approved drugs. Results of the research have been published in the highly rated journal Molecular Diversity (Q2).

Council of University Rectors of the Chelyabinsk Region Makes a Statement

Today the Council of University Rectors of the Chelyabinsk Region has held a meeting chaired by the SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov. Only one issue has been on the agenda: the support of the recognition of the Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic, and of the conducting of the special operation in Ukraine. SUSU Students Will Be Able to Write their Own Bills

South Ural State University, the Public Chamber of the Chelyabinsk Region, and Senator of the Russian Federation from the Chelyabinsk Region Margarita Pavlova signed an agreement to cooperate on holding a research papers competition "My Bill in the Context of National Security".

Students are invited to try their hand at writing bills. The competition was launched by Senator Margarita Pavlova. SUSU was invited to participate.

The Influence of Rare-Earth Ions on the Electrical Properties of "Materials of the Future" is Determined

The study of a high-entropy material with a perovskite structure was carried out by scientists from the South Ural State University (SUSU). They obtained a new material with a high configurational entropy of mixing and evaluated the effect of changing its chemical composition on physical properties. The study was published in the highly-rated journal Ceramics International (Q1).

History students of South Ural State University have taken part in the premiere screening of an Arkaim. The Chariot of Time popular-science documentary. It narrates about the earliest civilization of cattle herders and metallurgists that emerged in the South Ural region four thousand years ago. They created the so-called Sintashta culture.

SUSU Master Student Develops an Electric Drive for the Oil and Gas Industry

A master student of South Ural State University proposed improvements of oil and gas production equipment. It creates a draw works differential electric drive that will increase the energy efficiency of hydrocarbon production. The graduate student received a grant for the project, becoming the winner of the UMNIK competition.

SUSU Launches a New Project for International Students: We Are in Russia

On February 1st, the South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni will launch a new project — the We Are in Russia adaptation program.

In January the results of the grant competition of the Presidential Grants Fund were announced. The project of the Association—an adaptation program for international students We Are in Russia—won the grant competition. The project involves conducting classes aimed at integrating international students into the socio-cultural and legal environment of Russia.

Heavy Metal Blockers for Polluted Water Bodies Presented by Russian Scientists

Scientists from South Ural State University (SUSU) presented a material that cleans water bodies from heavy metals and blocks their return to the environment. The sorbent has already been tested on water samples contaminated due to the activities of an operating enterprise. Some positive results have been achieved. The scientists described the sorption mechanism and the effect of the blocking material in an article for the highly-rated journal Nanomaterials (Q1). 

Copper-Containing Slags will be Fully Recycled within the Project of the Ural REC

 It is possible to recycle toxic copper waste. Scientists at South Ural State University (SUSU) are developing an environmentally friendly recycling approach to returning valuable metals to production as raw materials and sending the rest to the oil industry. The project is carried out within the framework of the Ural Interregional REC. 

Ural REC Develops New Composite Materials with Predesigned Properties

 

A new production of composites with adjustable geometry and characteristics is to be launched by scientists from the South Ural State University (SUSU) in cooperation with OOO M-Profil (Miass). Now a team of specialists is developing honeycomb prepreg composites. The work is carried out within the framework of the New Materials direction of the Ural Interregional REC. 

“Ecomonitor” Can Manage Environmental Risks

As part of the work of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center "Advanced Production Technologies and Materials", large interdisciplinary projects are being implemented, the purpose of which is to improve living conditions in the region. Scientists from South Ural State University are creating the Ecomonitor software package to track the spread of pollutants in the atmospheric air. Thus, a tool for effective monitoring of atmospheric emissions will appear.
