On April 2, All-Russian Student Olympiad on Automatic Control Theory took place at Ivanovo State Power University. 56 students representing 8 Russian higher education institutions, including SUSU, took part in the Olympiad.
The 2019 Student Leader of the Chelyabinsk Region competition wrapped up in the South Ural region. From April 12th through April 14th, representatives of the region’s higher education institutions fought to win and be granted a right to go on to the District round. SUSU was represented by students Aleksey Kosarev and Vlada Nedotko.

As reported on Tuesday by Press Office of the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), the discovery was a result of studying the phenomenon of a reduced level of “stress hormone” in animals which in stress situations attack their rival instead of running away.
April 10th through April 13th of 2019 an International Education Fair was held in Moscow. The MIEF is one of the major open forums in the field of education, as well as a big-scale exhibition of modern educational technologies, infrastructure and smart solutions. The Fair is being held at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNH) starting from 2014.
On April 22nd and 23rd, the 5th International Festival “We Are All Different, but We Are Together” will be held at South Ural State University, in which SUSU students of various nationalities will participate.
Every year, the festival is organized by the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications with the support from the Sociocultural Adaptation Centre.
On April 8th the SUSU’s Nasledie Research-and-Development and Project Centre celebrated its 15th anniversary. The Centre is mainly intended for efficiently solving the tasks on conserving, reconstructing and preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the Chelyabinsk Region.
Scientists from South Ural State University jointly with researchers from King Saud University in Saudi Arabia have obtained new data on the strength of promising materials necessary for the aircraft industry. The results of their research were published in journal Materials Science and Engineering: A, which is included in the Scopus scientometric database (Q1) in March 2019.
Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Candidate of Sciences (Philology) Anna Krasavina was awarded a winner’s certificate in the category of the Best Script at the Humane Movies film festival for her script to Breath feature short, which premiered at the festival early in April.
On April 11 of 2019, teaching-and-learning specialist of SUSU's Pushkin Institute Research, Education and Coordination Centre, Tatiana Beloglazova, made a speech at a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, A.I. Denisov. In the course of a formal conversation, a presentation of SUSU’s Pushkin Institute Partnership Network was held.
Under the guidance of an academic from the SUSU Department of Russian Language and Literature lecturer Evgeniy Smyshlyaev, Master’s students Marina Chernykh, Arina Medvedeva and Artem Shilintsev took part in the First International Science-to-Practice Conference on Slavic Philology and Culture in the Intellectual Context of Time, which was held at Southern Federal University, Rostov-on-Don.
The Nationwide Dictation Quiz international campaign was held at South Ural State University. Around 700 people took the test at our university.
The Nationwide Dictation Quiz is an annual educational campaign in the format of a voluntary dictation test for all those willing. This year’s campaign was held in 80 countries around the world.
On April 12, South Ural State University presented a scientific and entertaining programme. As per tradition, organiser of the celebration was Student Council of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
In the 3rd floor hall of SUSU’s main building, students took part in celebrating the Cosmonautics Day. Interactive stations were presented in the form of darts game, scientific experiments, space-themed coloring pages, and more.
On April 13th of 2019, the Nationwide Dictation Quiz, an international literacy testing campaign was held. At South Ural State University, 255 international participants took the TruD test.
Moreover, among the active participants of this year’s Nationwide Dictation Quiz were the SUSU partner universities from the Pushkin Institute network: 57 participants took the test at Tianjin Foreign Studies University, 11 people – at Beijing Language and Culture University, and 10 students – at Zhejiang University of Foreign Languages.
South Ural State University invites students to the rehearsals of the Victory Waltz. This year’s dance flashmob, devoted to the heroic act of the Soviet soldiers during the Great Patriotic War, will be held at the university square in front of the main SUSU building on May 7th at 13:00.
The Young Progressors Olympiad was held at South Ural State University. The event was organized, per tradition, by the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering of the SUSU Institute of Engineering and Technology.
The Olympiad coincided with one of the most important dates in the Russian calendar – Cosmonautics Day. This year, it was held for the ninth time.

On April 10th, a photo exhibition by a student from Sri Lanka Uvindu Wijeweera was presented at South Ural State University. It was organized by the student with the goal of showing how international students see Russia.
On April 10th, South Ural State University students presented their contest program called Island of Faith as part of the Student Spring 2019 Festival. The main performers were groups from the SUSU Recreation Centre.
The Student Spring festival is held every year to support the artistic potential of the student body. Every year, students from special secondary schools and higher education institutions perform and enjoy the performances of each other.
April 8th to April 10th, “Arctic: Territory of Dialogue” 5th International Arctic Forum was held in Saint Petersburg. This forum is a key platform for discussing the pressing issues of social-and-economic development of the Arctic territories, elaboration of tiered many-sided mechanisms of mutual unlocking and efficient development of the great resource potential of the Arctic region.

On April 7th, on stage of Chelyabinsk State Institute of Culture and Arts the final of the 16th Regional Festival of Co-creativity “You Are Not Alone!” was held.
The members of the SUSU Headquarters of Student Labour Unions together with children from social rehabilitation centres and children’s homes prepared performances under different categories: Puppet Show; Theatrical Art; Applied Arts Creativity; and Dance Theatre.
April 12th is a significant day for Russia – it is the day that Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin made the first flight into space. Today, humanity has set new goals for space exploration. These include not only unmanned flights to Mars and its colonization, but also more “earthly” tasks.
Celebration of the Cosmonautics Day is to take place at South Ural State University on April 12. The event is organised annually by Student Council of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
In the 3rd-floor hall of SUSU’s main academic building, all who interested will be able to take part in a scientific and entertaining programme. There will be a number of various interactive stations. Participants will be able to compete in speed at trim trail relays, construct airplanes, etc.
