One June 24th-26th South Ural State University will be welcoming a delegation from Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology, located in the capital of the Syrian Arab Republic. Within the frameworks of this meeting, professors and research fellows of the university from Damascus will be discussing the prospects of collaborating with SUSU in different fields.
Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology is an engineering and technology university located Syria and established in 1983. It trains specialists capable of conducting scientific and technological research, thus, contributing to the scientific and economic development of Syria. Besides the academic activity, Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology is performing work at its scientific departments, various laboratories and technology centres, such as Environmental Studies Lab, Welding Technology Centre, and High Performance Computing Centre.
Among the delegation members will be the representatives of the Higher Institute, including professors and research fellows, who specialize in research in different fields of knowledge. They are planning on discussing the prospects of collaboration in such fields as mechanics and mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, informatics, electronics and computing machinery, technics and technology – communication systems, informatics and computing machinery, artificial intelligence, mechatronics and robotics, electric power engineering, and others.
In the course of this visit, it is planned to hold meetings with the SUSU Vice-Rector for International Relations Olga Yaroshenko and Director of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science Gleb Radchenko. The program also includes the meetings with the representatives of the SUSU Institute of Engineering and Technology : Dean of the Faculty of Material Science and Metallurgical Technology Mikhail Ivanov, Dean of the Power Engineering Faculty Alexander Shishkov , and Head of the Department of Mechatronics and Automation Vadim Gasiyarov. The delegation from Damascus is especially interested in the possibility of offering students education in joint academic programmes.
The delegation representatives will go on an excursion to the SUSU’s leading scientific centres. They will visit the Supercomputer Simulation Laboratory, Geoinformation Systems Research and Education Centre, International Laboratory of Mechanics, Laser Processes and Digital Production Technologies, Uctech-Profi Educational Equipment Manufacturer, Physical Simulation of Thermomechanical Processes Laboratory, as well as Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering, and Laboratory of Experimental Mechanics. Specialists form the university in Syria have expressed a wish to meet the heads of the scientific divisions in order to study their spheres of activity in detail and discuss the possibility of organizing joint international projects.
