On June 16th, the staff of the Sociocultural Adaptation Centre organized an excursion to Taganay National Park and to AiR arms manufacturing company, Zlatoust, for the international students.
The SUSU international students visited Pavel Bazhov Mountain Park in Krasnaya Gorka. The merry celebration of Sabantuy (Turkic peoples summer festival) was happening there that day, with sports competitions, master classes and craftsmen exhibition. The students climbed up the Saint John Chrysostom bell tower with a chapel, tolled the bell and made wishes.
The next stop in the excursion trip was AiR arms manufacturing company, where the international students learned about the complete process of manufacturing knives and decorated goods. The guests also had a chance to try themselves as smiths, took pictures with a record-holding Svyatogor sword, which the company is very proud of as it had been listed in the Russian Book of Records as the “Longest Damask Steel Sword in the World”.
The ecological path “The whole Taganay for 600 steps”, which passes through the picturesque places of the Black Rock natural boundary and through the main natural complexes, left an unforgettable impression. Many of the students did not know that there are such beautiful places in Russia.
«I’m very happy that we decided to travel to Zlatoust as a small international group. We visited Krasnaya Gorka, enjoyed walking there, gazing around and taking pictures. Then we tried ourselves as smiths, and it was fascinating. But most of all we were pleased to take a walk to the Black Rock in Taganay Park. The nature is so beautiful there! We really liked our trip!» ‒ says Jan Welecky from the Czech Republic.
The Sociocultural Adaptation Centre of South Ural State University organizes tourist trips across the Ural region for international students on a regular basis. It is a great opportunity for students to not only see the picturesque nature of the Chelyabinsk Region, but also to socialize with each other in a friendly atmosphere.
