An unusual cooking master class by the Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics has been held at South Ural State University. This event, which has become a good tradition, brings together teachers and students in a relaxed atmosphere, where they cook delicious dishes together and discuss various topics.
Such meetings have been held for several years now, and each time the participants are happy to make new culinary discoveries and to get a chance of informal communication. In previous years, students and teachers had cooked pelmeni and borscht together, and this time they were cooking a vegetable stew.
“The event itself is called “Cooking Master Class by the Director”. This is already a regular annual event, when we meet with students and cook various dishes. Students participate directly, and teachers usually join in too. We cook a theme dish. We had potato dishes, once we cooked cabbage dishes, vareniki, pelmeni, borscht. Today we are cooking vegetable stew with meat. The goal is to show that when you yourself do the cooking, it can be cool and delicious. A dish cooked with your own hands is twice as delicious as one bought in a store. And we show that it is not that difficult. You can do everything yourself. But the main goal, of course, is to get closer, get to know each other in an informal atmosphere, talk to students, and hear their joys, problems, and sorrows. I am always open to communication, and this is one of the events when we can do this,” shared the Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Alena Zamyshlyaeva.
To introduce and bring the participants closer together, a game was organized in which everyone guessed their name and associated it with a famous character, historical figure or some word. Alena Zamyshlyaeva told in detail the recipe for vegetable stew, accompanying the cooking process with jokes and laughter.
While waiting for the dish to be ready, everyone enthusiastically played the “Contact” game, which helps develop vocabulary and promotes friendly communication between players.
"It's actually really cool to meet the director because you get closer. Such meetings are very funny. Interesting master classes give you an opportunity to see a person from a different side. Since I started studying, this is the third time. We had a pelmeni day, a borscht day, and now a stew day. Every time we do something new. On pelmeni day, we had a competition: who would make the most interesting one. Someone made little men, and someone mini-pelmeni. It's delicious, interesting and healthy. You can remember the recipes for yourself, to experiment on your own," said Anastasiia Baldurkina, master class participant.
At the end of the event, each participant could taste the stew prepared by joint efforts, enjoying not only the taste of the dish, but also the atmosphere of friendship and warmth that reigned at the master class.
