On February 7th an important event was held in Chelyabinsk, which presented the topical for the South Ural region ecological problem in a new perspective. SUSU employees took part in this forum.
For the first time, the representatives of authorities, big businesses and public organisations together were searching for the solutions to the problems, related to ecological challenges, in the form of a constructive polylogue at the forum’s discussion grounds and round tables.

The regional school of the heads of students’ teams of train attendants took place in the congress hotel “Malakhit”. Captains, commissioners, and masters took part in the training classes to improve the psychological and leadership qualities. The SUSU students’ team of train attendants also participated.
The final of the 12th Student Labour Union Dance Festival was held at South Ural State University on February 17th. Student labour unions from the Chelyabinsk, Tomsk, and Samara regions gave eye-catching performances on the SUSU’s main stage.
Open House Day took place at South Ural State University. School seniors and their parents learned about prospects of education in one of the leading higher education institutions of Russia. Open House Day is a chance to get the most up-to-date information regarding training areas and specificities of studying at SUSU. University applicants and their parents had a chance to informally talk to Directors of schools and institutes and ask them all questions of interest.
On the basis of the SUSU Department of International Relations and Regional Studies, a round table in celebration of International Political Consultant Day will take place on February 21 at 14.00 at Sigma Education Building. A member of State Duma, Vladimir Burmatov, the invited political consultants, academics and students of SUSU, as well as schoolchildren, and media representatives will participate in the event.
Association of International Students supported by International Office holds a Competition among the students. The participants have an unusual task – to create a cover for a graduate photo album. It is worth noting, that the photo album is intended primarily for the foreign graduates.
Faculty of Journalism of Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities of South Ural State University sent creative works of students and academics to the World Journalism Education Congress (WJEC-5) Competition, which will take place in Paris in July 2019. The main task of the Competition is to distinguish talented students and academics.
South Ural State University offers a flexible system of paying for education. A supplementary agreement allows to pay for the educational services as per comfortable scheme or using the assets of the federal subsidies for multiple-child families.

Students and research fellows of South Ural State University’s Institute of Engineering and Technology invented a unique electric transmission for hybrid- and electric transport – a wheel hub motor for electric race car. This work has been executed within project-based learning of students.
As part of fulfilling the programme on Civil and Patriotic Education of SUSU Students and shortly before the date of the 30th Anniversary of the Soviet Withdrawal from Afghanistan, two exhibitions opened at the Faculty of Military Education: an Afghanistan in Our Hearts photo exhibition, and an exhibit by the Chelyabinsk scouting forces.
The photo exhibition is a tribute to the memory of the fallen and still living participants of the Afghanistan War, who gave a display of courage and heroism while performing their international military duty.

On February 14th, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, more than 50 couples “got married” at South Ural State University. The Student Council of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science traditionally acted as the organiser of the festivities.

On January 31, 2019 first-year Master’s students of the project-based learning programme, as well as Bachelor’s students of the Department of Russian and International History of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities attended an exhibition on the Objects of Cultural Heritage of South Ural held at the Unified State Archive of the Chelyabinsk Region.
Fulbright Programme is a programme of grants for education, founded in 1946. The main purpose of the programme is to strengthen academic and cultural connections between nations of the USA and Russia, as well as improve mutual understanding between our countries. The programme is fully sponsored by the US Department of State.

On February 4, ceremonious opening of the 10th jubilee PMCup Championship on Project Management for the Cup of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region was held. The Championship is held under the patronage of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region.
