The final of the Best Group Contest (known as KLG) was held at our university's Assembly Hall. It had taken several months to prepare for and complete the whole cycle consisting of six contest rounds.
The 2025 contest nominations included: Best First-year Group, Best Senior-year Group, Best Student Mentor, Best Course Leader, and Best Teaching Mentor.
"All the guys did great. I think that this year's event has been very colourful, interesting and meaningful! Its trademark feature is that both students and teaching staff members can participate. It's really wonderful when the participants unite in such a team. Student years are indeed the best time in any person's life, but it depends on students themselves to make these years the best ones. Those, who have taken part in the Best Group Contest, have definitely become more active, united and tightly knit," commented Anton Manuylov, Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs.
Each participant had had to submit a portfolio, perform a showpiece and introduce their student team. One of the rounds was held jointly with the SUSU Intellectual Games Club: "Svoya Igra" (analogue of the "Jeopardy") game was held for mentors and course leaders, and "Chto? Gde? Kogda?" ("What? Where? When?") game was held for student groups.
"I've been acting as this contest's head for the second year in a row now, but I've felt anxious anyway. We've taken into consideration the previous years' drawbacks and have moved to a new level! So this year, our main task has been to make everything better than last year. We came up with a really cool concept and completely changed the design of the social media and handout materials," shared Dariia Imankulova, the contest organizer.
Participants in the Best Mentors nomination had had a special task: their profession-related round, where they had had to present a report on how they had held their Mentor's Hour dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the Victory.
"I've always been saying that the role of course leaders is very important, and we're trying to organize such supportive events for them as often as possible. So, this year, we've added the Best Course Leader of the Year nomination especially for them," noted Valeriia Zasova, Deputy Head of the Extracurricular Activities Office.
The next round had been a trip to some cultural place or attending some event in Chelyabinsk. The photo report had been obligatory!
"The Best Group Contest is first and foremost about a team. It doesn't matter who you are: course leader, mentor or teacher. It's all about team work, about who stands behind you, and behind whom you stand, too. That's why all the contest participants are winners already," Fedor Borodin, Chairman of the SUSU Student Union addressed the audience from stage.
For the final round guests, players from the Chelbasket Club, were invited. The athletes held a warm up contest for the participants.
