The final chord of the Russian Economic Forum was the presentation session “Personnel of the South Ural Region – the Battle for People”. And it is no surprise. This is the place where educational institutions talked about their educational opportunities, and employers – about demands for highly qualified staff.
The organizers brought up the main issue of the session for discussion: What does an employer want and what is he ready to offer to young specialists today, whether these are social packages, professional development, or accelerated career growth? What new promising professions do we have today and where to obtain them? Where to go: to vocational education institution or university? How to get an internship in a good company?
The first speaker was Vitaliy Litke, Minister of Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk Region. He presented a key strategic project of the region in the field of education – World-class International Campus, the resident of which SUSU is.
"Infrastructure is important. It forms the very environment that allows us to solve a large number of issues. The challenges we worked with when we were forming the concept of the campus were, first of all, working with qualified personnel, our talented school graduates, who need a special idea, and a scenario for success within our region. The campus is designed to solve precisely this problem from the position of different substantive meanings. We are talking not only about the innovative environment, but also about the fact that it should be interesting and meaningful in a complex," said Vitaliy Litke.
The Minister also noted that the youth needs a comfortable semantic environment and an understanding of prospects for their future in our region.
“One more important factor is that we need to ensure the interaction in terms of those tasks that are in the line of scientific and technological development. The strategies of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation are already being implemented, the corresponding decree of the President has been adopted. It is important to understand that in order to solve the tasks that we face, we must join our efforts!" continued Vitaliy Litke.
Our university was presented by Marina Potapova, Vice-Rector for Education.
SUSU is taking on the challenge. There is a big, serious, significant work field ahead, which our students, teachers and scientists are ready to master. We are in favour of new opportunities. If there are challenges, then there must be answers to them. These are new education and new competencies. Today, our country needs specialists graduating from university with two diplomas, three qualifications. Our university provides these opportunities for free. If a student wants to study a direction that is completely perpendicular to the main one, s/he can choose a miner. Already 4000 students have taken advantage of this privilege!”, said Marina Potapova.
The Vice-Rector also paid attention to the fact that young people must and can contribute to the success of our country; and challenges of time are the opportunities for growth.
“We are conducting accelerated training of personnel and we think that all our educational programmes must become a research core and practical training within national projects, the four major academic areas that have been announced today as part of the Science and Universities project. SUSU is the university of victories. Besides the main studies, we have the necessary sports infrastructure, our own Military Training Centre and “The Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School. More than 2000 international students are among fellow-thinkers of our students. We, with our entire big family of South Ural State University, are creating the future, changing the world for the better!" Marina Potapova concluded.
Among the speakers were also the representatives of the university's strategic partners, such as AO Ural Automobile Plant, PAO Chelyabinsk Forge and Press Plant, PAO Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, AO Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant, OOO Metran Industrial Group, OOO Privodnaya Tekhnika Scientific and Technical Centre, AO Androidnaya Tekhnika Scientific and Production Association, and PAO APRI.
