Deputy Minister of Science of the Russian Federation Andrey Omelchuk arrived in the Chelyabinsk Region on a business visit. The main goal of the visit was to monitor the progress of construction of the Inter-University Campus. Before observing the construction site, Andrey Omelchuk held a working meeting, which was attended by the SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner, the Minister of Education of the Chelyabinsk Region Vitaliy Litke, representatives of the developer company, VTB Bank and other interested parties.
Vitaliy Litke reported on the progress of the campus project implementation. The first stage has been completed up to date, two dormitories have been opened, and students have begun to move in. The meeting participants discussed the cost of living on campus, living conditions in the rooms and in the adjacent territory. First residents of the Inter-University Campus can admire the Botanical Garden of Chelyabinsk State University, and in the future, flowering plants will decorate the entire territory of the science campus. Andrey Omelchuk assured that the Ministry of Education and Science will provide support to the Chelyabinsk Region, especially since both regional authorities and industrial partners are interested in the appearance of such an important facility on Chelyabinsk land.
“You know, this is not the first time that we have approached the campus in Chelyabinsk so thoroughly and in detail, and our first strategy session within the framework of the federal campus project was held in Chelyabinsk,” says Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Andrey Omelchuk. “And here, probably, the most important thing is what will happen next. Because the housing stock will be formed, it will be good, look nice, be of high quality and, of course, will find those who will want to live there. But the most important thing is to put the right meaning into science and education. The scientific and laboratory educational building is a place where students study, prototype, work together with their future employers and fill it with the right content. Therefore, it is extremely important that all partners participate in it. This is the core, this is the “heart” of the campus – it is the most important thing.”
The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation states that the campus should provide new opportunities for the region, respond to the challenges of our time, and solve burning problems. And the Inter-University Campus in Chelyabinsk meets all these requirements. The participants of the meeting reviewed the project for the location of research and design laboratories, and noted that most of these spaces will be created in cooperation with enterprises in the real sector of the economy. According to the plan, the most cutting-edge equipment for conducting scientific work will start to be purchased and the construction of laboratory buildings will begin next year.
