We Will Keep in Touch: SUSU “University Sessions” Wrapped up

Learn all about a city within 24 hours? It is possible! Thus, on the final day of the “University Sessions” program a number of excursions for children was organized, including history games, walks and examining a variety of exhibits.

Tours around two major Chelyabinsk museums were held for the children: Russia – My History historical multimedia park and the State Historical Museum of the South Urals, where the focus was surely made on the meteorite.

“I will remember the time that we’ve spent during this session. Thanks to the excursions, we’ve learned about Chelyabinsk. When I’m back home, I’ll definitely share on the hospitality which people here welcomed us with. That’s why our session was filled with kindness and warmth,” said Valeriia Riabenko.

Head of the SUSU Museum and Education Complex Nadezhda Ivanova shared on the history of foundation of Chelyabinsk. She joined teenagers on their walk around the summer metropolis. They visited Kirovka Street and Glinka Opera and Ballet Theatre.

“I tried to make our excursion relevant to the children's homeland ‑ Donetsk People's Republic. For example, the Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant evacuated from Mariupol during the war time. They also were telling me much about what they have. They shared that the people around them treat them well. It is indeed very important,” explained Nadezhda Ivanova.

The introduction to Chelyabinsk was not only about cultural and educational events. Our guests from Donetsk People's Republic had time to visit and learn about the history of the Traktor Ice Hockey Club. They were taken on a tour around the Club's museum, hockey rink, and players' locker rooms (where normally other people are not allowed).

“I'm also going in for sports, that's why I've found this pastime especially useful! I only had positive impressions from our excursion to the Traktor Club! I've been to many football stadiums before, but haven't been to a hockey rink yet. We learned about the history of the Club and its players,” shared Ivan Toponitsyn.

The session wrapped up, all pictures were taken and contacts exchanged. It was time to say goodbye. After all the excursions, at the railway station, guys were sharing their impressions and plans for the next summer. Very soon they will have to choose their future professions and enrol in universities.

“This trip gave me many new friends. With each passing day our group was becoming more and more united. Now I feel sad to leave, but I hope we will keep in touch!” said Mariia Anopshchenko.
