SUSU Art Historians Became Laureates of State Scholarships

Highly qualified teaching staff, associate professors and professors, candidates and doctors of sciences, honoured figures of art and science work at the Department of Theology, Culture, and Arts of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities. Among them is the Head of the SUSU Art Gallery, art historian Anatoliy Razuev, who got included in the 2024 list of state scholarship holders of the “Association of Art Historians” All-Russian Public Organization. The topic of his research is: Methodological Fundamentals for the Development of Visual Culture of the Audience in a Modern Exhibition Space.

Anatoliy Razuev has been working at the Department of Theology, Culture and Arts for over 20 years now, completed the postgraduate programme in Art History here, and managed over 60 exhibitions at the SUSU Art Gallery, where he organizes creative practices for Art History students and excursions for students of other specialities. Thanks to his productive creative work in the student environment of the university, the problem of modern society, that is the low interest of potential audience in visiting art exhibitions, is being overcome. Anatoliy Razuev, together with his colleagues - university administrative and academic staff of the department, staff members of art museums of the region, cultivates in Art History students valuable skills of research, comprehension and interpretation of works of fine art, the organization of gallery and exhibition work, which creates the prerequisites for improving the visual culture of potential audience of art exhibitions from among students.

According to Anatoliy Razuev, the result of the conducted research is the formulation and publication of methodological fundamentals for teaching audience to comprehend the language of art: the ability to fully see and evaluate the means of artistic expression of a work, as well as perceive its content and meaning.

Research Manager of the Art Gallery, Doctor of Sciences (Art History), Honoured Figure of Art Nataliia Parfentieva believes that such high support of creative achievements by Anatoliy Razuev is consistent since the numerous materials that he publishes in the form of exhibition catalogues are worthy of the highest praise and often serve as material for diploma projects of Master’s students majoring in Art History. A great success was the support of the project by the Art History Master’s student of the department Sofiia Blinova, who was also awarded the title of the 2024 state scholarship holder for the development of a series of lectures on the Art&Science: from Palaeolithic Art to NFT.
