Yesterday – students, today – professionals: SUSU hosted graduation-2024

On June 29, South Ural State University hosted a solemn congratulation ceremony for graduate students on the university square in front of the main academic building. About 4000 people graduated this year including about 400 international students. The innovation of this year was the awarding of graduates of the ISTaS Multidisciplinary College.

Alexey Texler, Governor of the Chelyabinsk region, addressed the graduates of 2024 with welcoming speech: “Good afternoon, friends! I sincerely congratulate you on completing your studies. Today you receive the coveted diplomas of higher education and this is one of the most important documents in your life. Years of study, sessions, exams and theses are behind us. And ahead is the time to fulfill your dreams, to become real professionals. SUSU is one of the flagships of science and education in the Chelyabinsk region, the leading university in our country. I wish each of you to move forward, not to be afraid of difficulties, to do everything so that our country and our region develop and we, in return, will always support you. I wish you success and happiness.”

Alexander Wagner, Rector of SUSU, also spoke parting words: “Good afternoon, dear friends! I congratulate you on your successful graduation from South Ural State University. You have graduated from one of the best universities, you will work in one the best regions in the Chelyabinsk region and you live in the best country in the world. And I invite the best of the best to this stage. Hooray!”

Vitaly Litke, Minister of Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk region, who came to the graduation ceremony, spoke about the importance of SUSU in the education system of Chelyabinsk region: “SUSU occupies an honorable place among the best universities in the Southern Urals. Not only education is developing here, but also science and relationships are being build with leading companies in the region in various areas of training. And those students who graduated today will go to work in the economy of the Chelyabinsk region. Thus, we receive qualified specialists and develop our city and region through participation in leading projects and innovations. Therefore, the tasks that SUSU solves are strategic ones that allow us to saturate the economy of our industry with the best personnel.”

In addition, the best graduates who distinguished themselves in scientific, educational, creative, sports and international activities were awarded diplomas on stage. This year, 21 people became them.

“I love creating something new, inspiring people and doing things for them that they will love and appreciate. I want to stay that it was hard to study but I liked it, because I was doing what I loved. To be honest, I tried very hard to get a red diploma, I studied, crammed. And now I can say with confidence that if you want something, you will definitely get it. There is no other way. At the moment, I am submitting my resume and I hope to start working very soon, because SUSU gave me such a boost.” – says graduate Vasilisa Nemchinova, who graduated from ISTaS with a degree in “Technologist of artistic processing of materials”.

Diplomas were also awarded to SUSU foreign students at the event.

“I studied in the field of “Computer Science” and I liked everything both in my studies and at the university itself. In the future, I plan to go to my homeland and work in my specialty”. – says Joshua Mosope Alavode, a student from Nigeria.

The graduate’s parents arrived to congratulate their son: dad Emmanuel Oluvode Alavode and mom Oladuni Omolola Alavode. They share their impressions, noting that they are proud of their son and happy that he graduated from university and became a real professional.

Furthermore, photo zones and alumni alley were organized, where each graduate could find his name. Another attraction of this year was the new trolleybus “SINARA”, which housed the visiting studio “SUSU-TV”, where graduates shared their impressions of the event.

“I want to congratulate all graduates on receiving the desired diplomas and I wish them good luck in their work and life! Huge opportunities are opening up for young professionals today. And I hope that some of you will want to link your life with our company and take part in the creation of innovative urban transport.” – commented Oleg Frantsev, director of the Chelyabinsk Factory of Urban Electric Transport.
