Each year we are having conversations with Institute of Open and Distance Education graduates from all over the world to know why did they choose one or another field of study and online learning. In this interview our main character is Anna, juridical alumnus. She told us about her experience of studying and choosing the specialization.
- Please, Anna, tell us about yourself.
- My name is Anna, I was born in city Nizhnevartovsk of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra. Now I am working at one of the subsidiary of a large service drilling company as a chief specialist at department of transportation service of transportation authority. In February 2024 I have successfully graduated South Ural State University by specialization «Jurisprudence» and got a diploma, although I had to get a diploma with honors. I can not hide it, that I was upset with it, but I already have a diploma with honors. I have graduated from college with honors by specialization «Programming» and got secondary vocational education. Besides, I have a motivation to get the highest mark at master’s degree.
- Tell us, why did you choose online learning? Do you have any story connected with it?
- It is not like I was looking for online learning for some reason, it just so happened. Actually I have transferred to IODE from a similar studying field on the second year of education. At that moment I have tried to do it at Nizhnevartovsk SUSU subsidiary, and there they recommend to contact Chelyabinsk IODE. Then I have submitted all appropriate documents, my transfer was agreed quickly and then I was accepted for the sophomore year.
- Why exactly jurisprudence?
- I always wanted to get a degree in jurisprudence, as well as somebody wants to become a doctor or an architect. I was attracted by understanding of laws, legal literacy. There were different situations in life, sometimes quite difficult, and for the most part I had to defend my rights on my own and achieve something legally, and every time became more convinced at working in juridical sphere.
- What advantages of studying at IODE SUSU can you mention?
- The university gave me opportunity not only to get a qualitative education, but also to improve skills of individual work, critical thinking and collective interaction. This experience became for me an important life stage that made me more competent and confident in my abilities.
- Have you been successful at combining your job/ personal life and studying?
- Sometimes it was really difficult, because you always had to change the direction of your thoughts from work to study and regulate priorities, taking into account, my son is studying at elementary school, it takes a lot of attention and time. I was lucky that my employer always supported me when I was in need for study leave.
- Is studying difficult for you?
- I like studying, acquire new knowledge. A process of learning is not difficult for me, even interesting. I have always been realizing that learning is interesting for me and necessary for my future. After all, they say that the best investment is investing in yourself. That is why education can bring its benefits in the long term.
- What plans do you have for the future after graduation?
- In the long term, after getting a master’s degree, I am considering the possibility of changing the sphere of working and test my strength in the juridical field. I am striving for further education and development. Planning to apply for master’s degree in this field in the near future, probably as early as next year.
- Would you recommend SUSU to your friends?
- Yes, I always recommended this university during a learning, and also after it, when it was a great opportunity.
