The TASS Press Centre in Yekaterinburg hosted a press conference dedicated to the work of the World-class Ural Interregional Research and Education Centre (UIREC) for Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials, which was attended by the Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation, Director of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science Aleksandr Gollai, acting as the regional coordinator of the UIREC for the Chelyabinsk Region.
Among the participants in the press conference were Assistant Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District Evgeny Gurariy, Development Director of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Centre Igor Manzhurov, Vice-Rector for Research of Kurgan State University Artem Sharov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Radio Electronics and Information Technologies of Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin (UrFU) Kirill Ignatkov, and Associate Professor of the Ural Energy Institute of UrFU Fedor Tarasov.
The main directions of work of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Centre, R&D in reconstructive surgery, metallurgy and digital technologies, as well as financial support for scientific projects were discussed at the press conference. All participants emphasized the importance of interregional cooperation aimed at increasing the scientific and technological potential of the Kurgan, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions.
The UIREC for Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials had been created within the frameworks of the Science and Universities national project to conduct world-class applied scientific research and development. Leading universities of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions take part in the development of the UIREC. A regional project office of the UIREC had been created at the premises of SUSU.
