On April 7, 2025, an International Science-to-Practice Conference on “Linguistic and Cultural Interaction of the Countries of the One Belt, One Road Initiative” wrapped up at Henan Normal University.
Over the period of three days, the venues in Xinxiang, Chelyabinsk and Shymkent hosted the meetings of sections, where scientists and teachers of the Russian Language and Literature discussed the issues of difficulties of intercultural communication, difficulties in translation of both literary and specialized texts, and the new methods of teaching foreign languages. Around 200 people from various cities of the three countries took part in this event.
The formal plenary meeting held at Henan Normal University became a symbolic summarizing of scientific inquiries by researchers from these three countries. Professors from the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language Elena Kharchenko and Aleksandra Mironova presented the results of their research achievements in the field of psycholinguo-cultural studies; Director of Institute of Linguistics and International Communications, Candidate of Sciences (Pedagogy) Elena Yaroslavova demonstrated the paths of forming of digital competences in modern teachers of foreign languages; Head of the International Exchange Centre, Candidate of Sciences (Philology) Tatiana Vasileva presented case studies of solving difficulties when translating public speeches of famous politicians.
Also, leading scientists in the field of Russian as a Foreign Language from the People's Republic of China presented their reports at the plenary meeting: Professor Ma Weihong from Zhejiang University of Foreign Languages, Professor Liu Zuoyan from Jilin University, Professor Wang Songting from Zhejiang University of Foreign Languages. At the conference's closing ceremony, Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages of Henan Normal University Mr. Liu and Director of Institute of Linguistics and International Communications of South Ural State University Elena Yaroslavova summed up the results of the successful work at the conference and expressed their hope for expansion of the cooperation between the universities.
