On February 19th, at School 21 of South Ural State University, school pupils met with the Hero of Russia, Chairman of the Board of the Movement of the First Project Artur Orlov.
Artur Orlov is a Russian military serviceman, major, and tank battalion commander. He is a holder of many military decorations: he was awarded the Medal of Suvorov, and he is a double recipient of the Order of Courage. In 2022, for his participation in the Special Military Operation, Artur Orlov was granted the highest state honour and was awarded the title of the Hero of Russia.
As part of his visit to Chelyabinsk, Artur Orlov met with the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region and also talked to the participants of the Movement of the First project in our region. Together with the Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation for the Chelyabinsk Region Sergey Kosmachev, Artur Orlov handed over the first important documents to young citizens of Russia – passports of citizens of the Russian Federation.
After the ceremony, a "Class Meeting" was held where school kids could ask questions about the life and work of the Hero of Russia. Artur Orlov shared that many things connect him to our region. He had served in Chebarkul for 12 years, and it is worth mentioning that the Head of the SUSU Military Training Centre, colonel Nikolai Karpov had been his commander back then.
"The today's meeting has been fascinating and interesting as always. Kids actively participated in this event. Their questions were truly memorable. When you come to a new region, the most important thing is to communicate with children and staff members. And today we have gathered at a wonderful building of the SUSU School 21. We have been given a tour and shown what opportunities we offer to our kids and young people nowadays," noted Artur Orlov.
Artur Orlov also met with the Rector of South Ural State University Alexander Wagner. They discussed the importance of working with young people, and the Rector presented a gift to our guest: a book about the South Ural region written by the university's teaching staff members.
"We are happy to welcome you at SUSU. Our university is a major educational institution. We have about 300 thousand graduates, who work in a wide variety of fields in all regions of our country. And since you just can't walk out of a university without some new relevant knowledge, we have decided to present you with this unique book about the history of our region," shared Alexander Wagner.
Artur Orlov thanked the university leadership for their hearty welcome and stressed that working with young people plays a key role in forming of the future of our country.
