The ceremony for winners of the SUSU’s Best Representatives annual award, where the brightest and most talented students of our university were chosen, was held at South Ural State University.
This year, 187 applications from students of all schools, institutes, colleges and branches of SUSU, who demonstrated high achievements in academic, scientific, social, sports and creative fields, have been submitted for the contest.
“The SUSU’s Best Representatives award is a wonderful tradition of our university, which sparks great interest among students. It is especially important that in each category the winners are chosen by the students themselves through voting, and, thus, determining which of them is the best and most worthy. The award not only brings joy with a beautiful event on the eve of the new year, but also motivates students to move forward and achieve higher goals,” noted SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner.
The award is organised to mark the merits of students who make a significant contribution to the development of our university and actively participate in its life. Based on the results of the in-person round and online voting, winners were determined in the following categories: “For Personal Contribution to the Development of the University's Youth Policy” - for university staff members, “Prospect of the Year”, “Talent of the Year”, “Intellect of the Year”, “Athlete of the Year”, “Public Activist of the Year”, “Volunteer of the Year”, “Mentor of the Year”, “Course Representative of the Year”, “Recognition of the Year”, and “Student of the Year”.
“This contest has been held for the 11th year now, and for the first time the awarding ceremony for the winners has been held within the walls of our university. The aim of the award is to encourage students who not only succeed in their studies, but also reveal their talents during the learning process. The main prize is 50,000 roubles for the student of the year, and each participant received prizes from our partners,” said Deputy Head of the SUSU Extracurricular Activities Office and Head of the SUSU’s Best Representatives 2024 Award Valeriia Zasova.
Each year, the main category is “Student of the Year”. All participants waited with great excitement for whose name the university rector would announce. According to the decision of the expert commission, Rushan Gatiyatullin, a fourth-year student of the Institute of Sports, Tourism and Service, became the student of the year in the SUSU’s Best Representatives Award.
“Despite any obstacles, you should follow your goal, and do what you really like. I managed to successfully pass all the competition tests and become the student of the year. I am very happy, thank you all for your support,” Rushan shared.
SUSU’s Best Representatives is an important event for the entire student community. Such events emphasize the university’s desire to support talented and proactive students.
