SUSU Legal Scholars Awarded a Top-honour Jurisprudence Prize

On December 3rd, Lawyers Day is celebrated in Russia. On the occasion of this holiday, a ceremony of awarding the Layer of the Year top-honour jurisprudence prizes was held at the Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk Region.

Every year, the Layer of the Year event is organized by the Association of Russian Lawyers all across our country. This prize is awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to the formation of a law-governed state, strengthening of legitimacy and law enforcement, protection of the rights and legal interests of citizens, as well as to the development of the Legal Science in Russia.

“The profession of a lawyer means serving the law, and nothing can exist without it. Law encompasses everything: our everyday lives, work, and when something unforeseen happens in our live, we turn to our state for protection. Jurisprudence is the foundation of state, and serving the law is the foundation of legal profession,” noted Director of the SUSU Institute of Law Elena Titova.

At the Layer of the Year ceremony, prizes were awarded in five categories: Legal Science; Human Rights Practices; Legal Education and Nurturing; Legislation Development; and Professional Recognition and Professional Service. In the Legal Science category, the SUSU Institute of Law received its award. It was represented by the Head of the Department of Civil Law and Civil Legal Procedures, Candidate of Sciences (Law), Associate Professor of the university Tikhon Podshivalov.

“This award has become a result of the 30-year work of our whole team. Over the period of several years, we have fulfilled big jurisprudence projects, and this extensive research cumulatively yielded the results, which were highly appreciated by the jurisprudence community,” shared Tikhon Podshivalov.
Nominees from the fields of legislation and law-enforcement, legal professions, investigative and judicial bodies attended this ceremony.
The concert show for the event was organized by the Recreation Centre of South Ural State University.
