SUSU Held Lecture for Employees on Combating Cyber Fraud

A lecture on issues of combating theft and fraud through information and telecommunications technologies was held for employees of South Ural State University.

The lecture was given by the SUSU Vice-Rector for Security Pavel Sonin and the representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the City of Chelyabinsk Anastasiia Kuznetsova.

The main goal of the event was to raise awareness among the university staff and teachers about modern methods of fraud in the digital environment and measures to protect against them. The lecture covered the most common scenarios of fraudulent actions aimed at confidential data phishing, such as a call from relatives, a company manager, or a bank employee.

"The lecture is held primarily for the employees of South Ural State University, and separate work will be carried out with students. The seminar will help us learn about modern methods of protection, because, as we know: forewarned means forearmed. We all have the opportunity to prevent crimes against ourselves and avoid economic losses," said Pavel Sonin, Vice-Rector for Security at SUSU.

The speakers emphasized the importance of maintaining information security in both professional and personal life. Cybercriminals actively exploit user weaknesses, so it is important to remain vigilant and follow recommendations for protecting personal data.

Anastasiia Kuznetsova, the representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the City of Chelyabinsk, shared practical advice based on the experience of law enforcement agencies. She explained how to recognize fraud attempts, correctly respond to suspicious actions, and report them to the appropriate authorities.

"Conducting such lectures is extremely important, because such crimes are common. Every day we register 15 to 20 crimes in the Chelyabinsk Region, so we conduct informational lectures in many organizations. It is important to be attentive and carefully consider your actions to make sure that the call or message came from a real bank employee or relative," noted Anastasiia Kuznetsova.

The lecture attendees noted the relevance of the topic and received answers to their questions related to the prevention of cybercrimes. The event became an important step in increasing the level of digital security of university employees.

Such work in this area, including holding seminars for university students, will continue at SUSU.
