SUSU Scientists Awarded Titles of “Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation”

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin awarded honorary titles to three residents of the Chelyabinsk Region. The corresponding decree was published on the Internet portal of official legal acts on August 22nd. Two of the awardees are scientists from South Ural State University.

The honorary title of “Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation” for merits in scientific and pedagogical activity, training of specialists and many years of work was awarded to the SUSU Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Alena Zamyshlyaeva and First Deputy Director of the SUSU Institute of Engineering and Technology Igor Shchurov.

“I will express the opinion of the entire university team that awarding our leading employees the title of “Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation” is an important award for the whole university,” said SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner. “This is a proof of the fact that we continue to successfully fulfil the tasks set by the Government and train specialists to strengthen the economy of our country. My congratulations to Alena Zamyshlyaeva and Igor Shchurov on their well-deserved awards! I am sure that there are many more new victories ahead.”

Igor Shchurov is engaged in digital technologies, calculation of cutting tools, and creation of digital models using the finite element method. He has made a great contribution to the development of the industry.

“Igor Shchurov is a person who does everything meticulously and always correctly. He is a highest-level specialist who is involved in everything he does, be it scientific research, student training, or administrative work,” said Mikhail Ivanov, Director of the SUSU Institute of Engineering and Technology.

All staff members of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics are also proud of their director. Alena Zamyshlyaeva is an excellent organizer and a wonderful scientist who combines theory and applied aspects in her research. She united chemists, physicists and mathematicians to work for a common consolidated goal.

The honorary title of “Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation” is awarded to highly professional teachers, employees of the system of higher, postgraduate professional, relevant continuing education and state bodies governing higher education for merits in pedagogical and scientific work, significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists and those working in their specialty for 20 years or more.
