On July 1, 2024, a delegation from South Ural State University visited the territory of the Interuniversity Campus under construction as part of the selection procedure for the operator of the targeted operation of the hotel complex. Ready-made residential buildings, rooms for students, common areas were shown to SUSU representatives. According to the results of the final negotiations, the university was recognized as meeting all the necessary criteria.
Let me remind that today our campus has 11 dormitories, marked Rector Alexander Wagner. – “SUSU – is the largest university of the region, where more than 24 000 students get education. We have a unique experience of working with housing stock intended for students, applicants and teachers. The University plans to open more than 10 joint laboratories with industrial partners on campus, and providing comfortable accommodation for students and staff is of great importance."
The first residents will appear on campus on September 1. Two hotel buildings are designed to accommodate 168 people each. The buildings have original architectural and planning solutions that will create a modern and functional environment for students.
Aleksey Shulepov, CEO of Chelyabinsk Concession Company, noted:
"The concession agreement on financing, creation and operation of campus facilities between our company and the Chelyabinsk Region was signed in 2022. In 2023, we entered the construction site, and in April of this year we received permission to enter the first stage of the campus. The project is being implemented in strict accordance with a busy schedule, which became possible thanks to productive interaction with the concedent (Ministry of Education of the region) and resident universities."
At the second stage of construction, three sixteen-storey hotels and three seven-storey ones will be built, which will also accommodate university professors. The third stage of development includes the construction of the main premises of the campus: a three-storey educational and scientific complex with a total area of 40,306 sq. m. and a three-storey building of modular conference halls with an area of 10,800 sq. m.
