School of Economics and Management at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024

On June 8, 2024 representatives of the School of Economics and Management took part in the Youth Day within the frameworks the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg.

For the 27th time, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum brought together leaders of the major Russian and foreign companies, representatives of government agencies, and the political and scientific community in order to establish business contacts, find new partners, discuss promising projects, and exchange views on current trends in politics and economics in regional and global markets. In 2024, the forum was attended by a record number of participants: more than 120 high-ranking foreign officials, 40 high-ranking officials of the Russian Federation, 30 heads of federal services and agencies, 81 heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and more than 8300 representatives of Russian and foreign business.

"This year, the format of the SPIEF'2024 youth program has been conceptually changed in favour of practice-oriented content on the forum venue and contained new formats aimed at creating opportunities for self-realization of talented young leaders, developing the institution of mentoring and attracting young people to solving global socio-economic issues," said Anton Kobiakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the SPIEF Organizing Committee.

The School of Economics and Management is especially proud that the honour of representing South Ural State University at the invitation by Anton Kobyakov this year has been given to an employee and student of the School of Economics and Management: Deputy Director for Educational Work of the School, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Theory, Regional Economics, State and Municipal Management Anastasiia Lapo, and 3rd year student of the Economic Security specialty Leokadiia Parshina.

"The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a key event in the business life of our country. Of course, this is a space where top officials of our country meet, and fundamentally significant agreements are signed to attract investments in order to accelerate the growth rate of regional development. That is why the inclusion of the Youth Day in the forum program is very significant! The program is structured in such a way as to provide the opportunity to search for new drivers of growth in the field of education and youth policy. Issues of cooperation between universities, state authorities and local governments, institutions for supporting youth policy and real business come to the fore in the discussion. Today the focus is on the problems of building a system of student-centric education, supporting youth initiatives, including in the field of social design, and developing key trans-professional competencies to build a successful career trajectory for new leaders who can contribute to the successful future of our country. We were able to directly discuss these issues at the SPIEF with representatives of federal departments and leading experts!" said Anastasiia Lapo, Deputy Director of the School of Economics and Management.

"I am proud that I am participating in the SPIEF for the second time! It is so nice to meet your friends at the same forum a year later. This was one of my favourite moments at this event! This year, the colour of the stands will be dominated by white − a symbol of goodness and peace. After all, the youth of our country is establishing cooperation with young people from other countries, making contacts and exchanging experiences. I am sure that I will remember this Youth Day with a lot of new thoughts and meetings!" noted Leokadiia Parshina, student at the School of Economics and Management.
