On April 22nd, on the 108th anniversary of the birth of Abram Katsman, one of the first mathematicians of the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute who had worked at the university since 1943, those scientists and teachers, who know and remember him, who consider him their teacher, gathered at the memorial plaque in his memory (on the second floor of the eastern wing of the SUSU main building). Among them were Professor of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Vladimir Zaliapin, Associate Professor of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Aleksandr Samarov, Professor of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science Rifhat Aleev, Associate Professor of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science Konstantin Kudriavtsev, and the descendants of Professor Katsman − the Shneiderman family.
A bouquet of flowers was laid at the memorial plaque.
"Professor Katsman could teach us any mathematical wisdom, he was quick on the uptake, got to the very essence of everything," recalls Aleksandr Samarov. "But the main thing he taught us was to be not only a person, but also a citizen who responsibly carries out his work. He taught by his own example."
"I would like to thank the university teachers, my grandfather’s comrades, for the warmth and support that our family still feels from them," said Professor Katsman’s grandson Anatoliy Shneiderman. "Thank you very much to SUSU for preserving his memory here."
