Foreign guests, who are also participants in the festival, currently most talked about, arrived in Chelyabinsk and straight away went to get acquainted with South Ural State University.
Guests were invited to the very heart of the SUSU media space − to the 10th floor of the main university building, where the TV and Radio Company SUSU-TV, SUSU Radio, 360-Degree Multimedia Newsroom, Photography Studio, and even the International Research Laboratory of Virtual Reality, and the Neuromarketing Technology Laboratory are located. A media platform of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and a Regional Student Media Centre have opened here recently.
The excursion for international participants was conducted by students and staff members of the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities:
"All participants of the World Youth Festival are interesting, inquisitive and, what is important, want to learn as much as possible about Russia," said Liudmila Shesterkina, Head of the SUSU Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations. "Therefore, we are happy to share with them on how our SUSU, our institute and our university media live. We want the excursion to be a worthy continuation of the festival program. The World Youth Festival is youth, friendship and the beginning of our wonderful future!"
The participants learned how media specialists are trained at SUSU, how university information programs and virtual reality media projects are created.
Some participants even tried to learn new professions. The bravest guest, Xina from China, read the text on camera without preparation, directly from the teleprompter.
"This was the first time I tried to read like real TV presenters do. This is an unforgettable experience. We were greeted at SUSU very hospitably. Everything was interesting to us. I have the warmest memories," Xina said after the broadcast.
"It’s very cool here! The festival brought together people from different countries. I met a lot of guys. This is amazing! And my acquaintance with Chelyabinsk and SUSU exceeded all my expectations," Nelly, a participant from Armenia, shared her impressions.
At the end, participants took photos as souvenirs in the SUSU Photography Studio.
