Competitions confined to the 100th anniversary of the Physical Culture Day were held among the teaching, academic and administrative staff members of South Ural State University at its sports venues.
The holiday was established in 1939 by the Council of People's Commissars to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle. It is customary to celebrate this holiday every second Saturday in August.
The program included the following competitions: volleyball among teams of divisions, swimming and badminton.
"This year our university is celebrating its 80th anniversary. And all this time, our employees showed students by personal example how important physical culture is in their lives. I certainly want to wish my colleagues a wonderful mood and good fair competitions," says Albert Aminov, Chairman of the SUSU Trade Union Committee.
The event is organized not only for those who are professionally involved in sports, but also for those who simply love physical culture and a healthy lifestyle.
"I take part in all badminton competitions that take place at the university. This is my main hobby. Today I took part together with my son since family participation is also possible. Any tournament is interesting because you play with different people, try other playing techniques. Badminton is a sport that allows you to diversify," says Nikolai Goryaev, participant, Associate Professor at the Department of Automobile Transport.
