Scientific Work − Scientific Rest!

Outdoor panel discussions, brainstorming with poets and artists, round tables near the Sunukul and Turgoyak lakes − this is how the staff of the SUSU Department of Philosophy work in an experimental format of "scientific rest".

The first in a series of outreach events this year was the methodological seminar on Digital Anthropology: Problematic Area and Development Prospects held on May 22nd−24th, 2021 at the Nauka Recreation Camp with the support of the leadership of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities of South Ural State University.

During the meeting, Elena Grednovskaya, Head of the Department of Philosophy at the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, discussed with her colleagues the results of the work done in the field of Digital Anthropology: digital product − public page; scientific events: organization and holding of the interuniversity round table "Man in the Digital Age" (November 19th, 2020); participation in the 6th International Conference of the Club of Internet Lovers and "Internet Beyond 2020" Society (April 22nd−24th, 2021); participation in the 14th Congress of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Russia (theses by E.G. Milyaeva, R.V. Penner were accepted); research articles sent to the scientific journal and accepted for review in the Q1 database: "Futurization of Education: Results of the Experiment" (A.A. Dydrov, E.V. Grednovskaya, R.V. Penner, E.G. Sosnovskikh): Futures; "Man in the Network: Loneliness and Communication" (V.I. Gladyshev, E.G. Milyaeva, R.V. Penner): PRAXEMA; participation of the department staff in the collective monograph "Organization of the Educational Process of Universities Using Blended Learning Technology in a Pandemic: Regional Experience" (A.N. Gulevataya, E.G. Milyaeva, R.V. Penner). The topic of digitalization of humanitarian research was continued by Doctor of Sciences (Philosophy) Artur Dydrov.

The second round table touched upon many issues, among which was the project of including SUSU in the "Scientific Council on the Methodology of Artificial Intelligence" (Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences) represented by Professor of the Department S.V. Borisov. The implementation of this task provides scientists with the opportunity to participate in the expert work of the council and its various scientific online and offline events dedicated to such urgent topics.

Thus, summarizing the results of two round tables, further vectors of development for this current strategic direction at the department were outlined, a single conceptual apparatus was developed, and a methodological basis for future research was agreed upon. Also, the participants pre-planned and discussed publications in journals indexed in the Scopus and WoS databases on the topics announced within the framework of the methodological seminar.

Another offsite round table dedicated to Environmental Education took place on July 6th−9th, 2021 in Miass with the joint support of the Education Department of the Miass City District Administration and the Public Environmental Council of the Miass City District.

During the event, the staff of the Department of Philosophy held a presentation of projects on Technologies of Humane Eco-engineering for 36 delegates from various educational institutions of the district. The audience was presented with the following: a colouring book "The Red Book of the Chelyabinsk Region" − an educational aid for children of preschool and primary school age; ecological family board game "Sorting. Board Game" (2020−2021Grant from PAO Mechel); informational and introductory dictionary "Ecology of Human Existence"; the announcement of the continuation of the project of the informational and introductory dictionary "Ecology of Human Existence: Mediaecology, Part 2"; a creative kit for creating a children's toy "Animals of the Red Book of the Chelyabinsk Region" from eco-materials (recycled paper) (application for a 2021grant from PAO Mechel); textbook for children of senior school age "Legal Ecology: Red Book Animals"; and the announcement of environmental projects of the Pavlin Publishing House.

It is revealing that the ideas implemented by the SUSU Department of Philosophy are invariably highly appreciated by experts. For example, the educational aid for children of preschool and primary school age "Red Book of the Chelyabinsk Region" received the stamp of the Educational and Methodological Association in the general education system of the Chelyabinsk Region.

Candidate of Sciences (Biology), Honoured Ecologist of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Lagunov called the draft textbook for children of senior school age "Legal Ecology: Red Book Animals" necessary and relevant. He also emphasized the need for early involvement of children in environmental issues, noting that the projects developed by the SUSU Department of Philosophy successfully cope with this task, covering all possible age categories.

Chairman of the Chelyabinsk City Duma Andrei Shmidt praised the dictionary "Ecology of Human Being", calling it "an innovative glossary that reveals the topic of human existence in the context of the "human − technological world" relationship", and suggested that the dictionary could become a "navigator in the emerging coordinate system."

New creative unions, exchange of experience, thoughts and ideas, inspiration, which, no doubt, will result in interesting and bright projects, have become excellent results of productive scientific rest of the staff of the Department of Philosophy.

"The "scientific rest" as a format of work is a unique discovery made by the Department of Philosophy of the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, which allows teachers and scientists to harmoniously combine scientific research and outdoor activities. A change of perspective and collaboration with colleagues provide an opportunity for fruitful scientific work, help to relieve stress and prevent professional burnout. We invite university colleagues to joint projects with our department in a new format," says Elena Grednovskaya, Head of the Department of Philosophy.
