The Institute of Law of South Ural State University hosted a Forensic Experts Contest of Professional Skills among students majoring in Forensic Enquiry. The event was organized by the Department of Criminal Procedures, Criminal Science and Forensic Enquiry.
During the Contest, students, under the guidance of experienced mentors from among the practicing forensic experts of the Criminal Expertise Centre of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Chelyabinsk Region, demonstrated their knowledge in the theory of expertology and the current legislation in the field of forensic enquiry, as well as their practical skills in the techniques of performing forensic examinations.
The turning point of the Contest was the completion of a challenging practical task on carrying out a research stage of fingerprinting examination (a comparative study of the signs of papillary patterns of the fingers and the palmar surface, displayed in the traces and fingerprints of the tested persons), which all teams coped with honourably!
The discerning members of the jury, which consisted of the practicing heads of the departments of the Criminal Expertise Centre of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Chelyabinsk Region, highly appreciated the level of professional training of the students, and noted the ability of the students to use technical and forensic tools and competently draw up documents.
Marina Bannikova, Kirill Kachkalov and Natalia Shpak, students of the “Kamen” (“Stone”) team (group Ю-480), became the winners of the Forensic Experts Contest.
