On November 20th, a hackathon will be held for volunteer centres of universities and secondary specialized educational institutions of the Chelyabinsk Region. Within the framework of the "Chelyabinsk Is a City of Kind Hearts!" project more than 130 volunteers of our region will try to find solutions to the problems they faced in their work in 2020.
Last week, a strategic session was held with the leaders of the volunteer centres, where the strengths and weaknesses in the work, as well as the difficulties that all volunteer centres face in various amounts, were identified. There is the low involvement of students in volunteer activities, the lack of experience of the head of the volunteer centre, the volunteers themselves, as well as the lack of funding.
Now 25 teams from 12 universities and 13 secondary specialized educational institutions in the Chelyabinsk Region will solve these problems using a design thinking technology. The main goal of this technique is to go beyond the existing stereotypes and the usual ways of solving a problem. It helps to refute assumptions and rethink the problem in order to find non-obvious alternative solutions.
As a result of the hackathon, guidelines will be created for volunteer centres, which they will be able to apply in practice in the near future.
Moreover, in December, within the framework of the project, a media marathon for volunteers will take place, where they will tell you how to engage over social media during a pandemic, and how to properly talk about volunteering. Let us remind you that the project is being implemented by the Trade Union Committee of South Ural State University with the support of the Department of Youth Affairs of the Administration of the City of Chelyabinsk.
