SUSU Graduates Shared about Their Studying in Engineering Programmes

Iuliia Sidorkina and Elizaveta Tiurina successfully graduated from the Institute of Engineering and Technology of South Ural State University. The choice of an engineering specialty, which is not that easy for girls to study, is not the only thing they have in common, but also their engagement in creativity work, as well as a mentoring school, after which the girls became good friends for freshmen. We learned from the graduates whether it was easy to study at the Institute of Engineering and Technology, what they managed to achieve, and what plans they have for the future.

Iuliia Sidorkina studied at the Faculty of Automotive Engineering majoring in Transport Process Technology. The girl's main achievement is her excellent academic performance, which resulted in the writing of two scientific articles and the development of a project presented at a university-level exhibition.

During the period of study, she received 12 different certificates for participation in competitions, festivals, systematic organization of institute-level and faculty-level socially significant events, and she also took training at the mentoring school. Iuliia plans to enrol in a Master's degree programme, become a professional in the field of transportation, and work in a successful company.

The girl was fulfilling her creativity talent in the kitchen: she always liked to experiment in cooking dishes, especially foreign ones.

Iuliia knew exactly that she would enter the SUSU Faculty of Automotive Engineering, since she was always interested in cars, and more precisely, in management and organization of transportation.

"SUSU opens doors for students in various types of activities. In my case, these are professional skills that have successfully helped me in pre-graduation practical training at a huge enterprise that consequently offers a job. According to Herodotus, people who decide to act are usually lucky in that; while, those, who only weigh their decisions and hesitate, rarely have luck," says Iuliia.

Elizaveta Tiurina graduated from the Faculty of Energy and Power Engineering of the SUSU Institute of Engineering and Technology with honours; in 2017 she became the best student mentor; and this year she has won the 2020 CASE-IN Championship. The graduate plans to become a power system dispatcher. Despite the choice of an engineering specialty, the girl's main hobby is embroidery on clothes.

Elizaveta chose the Faculty of Energy and Power Engineering at SUSU upon the recommendation of her acquaintances and never regretted it:

"In addition to quality education, studying at SUSU provided an opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and develop our communication skills. Despite the fact that my studies took up a lot of my time, I managed to find time for my friends and work. My life credo sounds like “If I know that I can achieve high results, I will do my best.”"
