Students of South Ural State University took active part in summer forums in 2020. Students not only gained useful experience, but also won grants.
This year the "Utro 2020" ("Morning 2020") forum was held in an online format from July 3 through July 5. Each one of the 12 thematic platforms helped students to immerse into the urgent tasks of the national projects and work out their own initiatives.
SUSU students traditionally took part in this event. Among them was Valeria Chachina, a specialist of the International Student Support of the SUSU International Office, who won grant support for holding the second forum for international students and graduates “URAL FEST” in our region. Egor Ustinov, a fourth-year student at the SUSU School of Economics and Management, also took part in the forum.
“The topic of managing an organization of any scale is directly related to my future profession. To learn interesting and useful things, to meet people from this field and share my not-yet-so-big experience are the tasks that I have achieved successfully, and I am happy!” said Egor.
The online format of the forum did not prevent the participants from mastering soft skills. Students were able to get acquainted, communicate and discuss different things in the forum conversations themselves.
“At the “Ecological Ural”, we have discussed problems that mankind have been worried about for a long time: from global environmental disasters to urbanism. I have come to a conclusion that any changes should begin with oneself, because personal example is inspiring,” commented Gor Pinachian, a third-year student of the SUSU Institute of Architecture and Construction.
The students from our university not only participate in forums, but also organize them. Violetta Poteriaeva, a student of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, became a media volunteer on the Ural Media track, where she helped with the organization.
“It was interesting to be behind the scenes of everything, to witness the process and the work of the whole team. The participants see the final picture on screen and in chats, but they have no idea about the whole process of organizing the event, and what kind of work is behind it,” says Violetta.
But not all the events of this summer are held in an online format. The art cluster "Tavrida" took place in Crimea in a traditional format. At the anti-school for young artists, photographers and sculptors, the Chelyabinsk Region was presented by a fourth-year student of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations Ekaterina Slugina. The main topics of the discussion were the changes that have taken place in the field of culture in connection with the pandemic.
“The session for artists also featured a field for journalists covering cultural events and writing about art. Journalists from the Vinzavod Centre for Contemporary Art have given me a killer dose of motivation in order to continue developing the competence of a media specialist," shared the student.
