A student of group ЛМ-426 of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications Viktoria Zaika, majoring in International Relations, has been given an opportunity to take practical training at one of the Committees of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The student has shared her memories and emotions.
This year, in February-March, Viktoria was taking the practical training at the State Duma Committee for Regional Policy and Problems of the North and the Far East. The Committee's work is aimed at ensuring the socio-economic development of these regions: the North is unique in its potential, and the economic power of the Far East needs to be revived.
The student’s responsibilities included: working with citizens’ applications to the Committee, preparing draft letters and requests, drawing up minutes of meetings, decisions and conclusions of the Committee on bills, and making press releases on events.
“Each day was really busy. The working process was diverse, and the leadership gave recommendations on its fulfilment. I took part in the extended meetings of the Committee, at which one could hear the point of view of each deputy, examine the reports of the invited speakers and observe the voting process. In addition, I managed to attend meetings of the Committee for the Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, and the Committee for the Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship,” said Viktoria Zaika.
Besides that, the future linguist had a chance to witness an event that was of great importance for the future of the Russian Federation. On March 10th, the State Duma held the second reading of amendments to the Constitution, where President Vladimir Putin gave a speech.
“The atmosphere around the plenary room is always very exciting. Deputies actively answer questions of the media representatives. So, it was interesting to find myself on the other side of the TV screen and not only see famous politicians in real life, but also to listen to their speeches and interviews,” recalls Viktoria.
During the practical training, the student of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications passed the selection round and was chosen as a member of the Lawmaking Expert Council of the Youth Parliament at the State Duma, which contributes to the activities of the lower house of parliament in the legislative regulation of the rights and legitimate interests of young people.
“Each day I went to the Committee to perform my assignments with great pleasure. This practice at the State Duma gave me precious experience, which will be of great use in my professional activity. Now I will continue to work in the Expert Council of the Youth Parliament,” shared her emotions and plans for the future the State Duma intern.
