Study Rooms in SUSU Dormitories Equipped with Computers

Now, it is so easy for students, who live in the SUSU dormitories, to study online. Each study room in each dormitory has been equipped with computers with webcams and Internet access. At this point, the students will easily sit their exams and defend their qualification and term papers in accordance with the university regulations.

The student dormitories of South Ural State University are now equipped with computers. They have been installed in study rooms, where the students find it comfortable to prepare for their classes and, during this coronavirus pandemic, to study in the distance-learning format.

The decision to install the computers was made after a student survey on the difficulties of distance learning, conducted by representatives of the International Office.

“We asked international students if they encounter any difficulties with the distance learning format and technical equipment. It turned out that some students do not have computers or laptops, only smartphones, and it is not convenient to use these during the educational process. That is why we contacted the leadership of our university to support the students and fit the study rooms with the necessary equipment. This became possible thanks to Andrey Radionov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Evgeniy Kabiolskiy, Head of the Informatization Office, and Liudmila Zadorina, Director of the Campus,” said Liudmila Lapina, Head of the International Student Support of the SUSU International Office.

The computers appeared in all nine dormitories of the university. They have an Internet connection and webcameras to provide the opportunities to sit tests and exams. The dormitories received the total of 41 computers.

“Thanks to the new computers the students, who had to stay in the dormitories during the pandemic, can complete the session, sit state examinations, defend term and qualification papers online in accordance with the university regulations. The study rooms are open 24/7, so the students can engage in training at any time convenient for them,” said Liudmila Zadorina, Director of the SUSU Campus.

To use the computer, students have to present a pass at the dormitory's desk and take the key to the study room. Time is not limited.
