On May 27th, an Interregional Conference for University Rectors of Russia and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in an online format, and among its participants was the Rector of SUSU, Vice-President of the Russian Rectors’ Union, Chairman of the Council of University Rectors of the Ural Federal District, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), Professor Aleksandr Shestakov.
The event speakers included the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.A. Abduvakhitov; Head the Russian Federation's Presidential Directorate for Interregional Relations and Cultural Contacts with Foreign Countries V.A. Chernov; Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation V.N. Falkov; Minister of Higher and Secondary-Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan I.U. Mazhidov; as well as rectors of the leading universities from Russia and Uzbekistan.
Aleksandr Shestakov reported that 2079 international students obtain education at SUSU, with 348 thereof being the residents of Uzbekistan.
In his speech, the SUSU Rector highlighted a number of the key fields of the collaboration between our university and Uzbekistan. Among the priority ones is the university's interaction with the Consulate and the expatriate communities in our region: round tables, forums, national holidays and culture days, informational days for international students, which are also organised by the Ural International Integration Centre of SUSU.
Aleksandr Shestakov also noted that our university collaborates with 17 partner universities in Uzbekistan. An important event within the frameworks of this interaction was the opening of a SUSU Faculty at Namangan Engineering-Construction Institute, Republic of Uzbekistan offering education in various fields: construction, construction materials and quality control, industrial and civil construction, economics, business informatics, vegetable food products.
Another important aspect of the collaboration was the release of the collected works “Ural Region and Central Asia in the Great Patriotic War” on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Great Victory. SUSU put forward an initiative to time the release of the collected works for this memorable date. Universities in Uzbekistan actively participated in the creation of this joint collective edition about the contribution of our peoples to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
In addition, the partner universities collaborate in the field of e-learning and distance education technologies, and in the supply of educational equipment to universities and secondary-specialized educational institutions in Uzbekistan.
