The Expert Analytical Centre has published the results of subject rankings of the research productivity of Russian universities. SUSU is in the top 20 for several fields of study.
The project “Research Productivity Ranking” was launched by the Expert Analytical Centre in 2016, to provide complex ratings of universities by fields of study (physics, mathematics, economics, chemistry, etc.). The results of this rating show which fields of study are prioritized in universities in the context of the development of their research activity.
In the 2020 version of the ranking, SUSU has been listed in 12 out of 16 of the rated fields of study. The university’s best standing is in Materials Science (14th), Ecology (14-15th), Energy (16-17th), Management (16-17th), Economics (16-18th), Engineering (17-19th), Chemical Technologies (17-19th), and Physics (18-19th). We should also note that in 2020 it is for the first time that SUSU has entered the Economics and Chemical Technologies rankings.
The ranking also evaluate universities in more narrow fields, and SUSU is among the participants in several fields. The university has been included in the top 20 for Metallurgy (8-11th), Artificial Intelligence (17th), Safety, Risk, Reliability and Quality (19th among engineering sciences), and Hardware and Architecture (20-21st among computer sciences).
The ranking’s methodology includes three blocks of equal weight: “Demand for Research Activity” (level of citation of journals, number of citations), “Scale and Sustainability of Research Activity” (percentage of publication, Hirsch index, and research collective), and “Quality of Growth” (quality of the university’s citations and concentration of articles in journals). More details on the methodology and results of the ranking can be found on the site of the Expert Analytical Centre.
