Within the framework of Project 5-100 on the competitiveness enhancement, postdocs are actively involved in research in the university. This year Dr. Sudarsu Venkata Ramanaiah, postdoc from India, has joined the team of Synthesis and Analysis of Food Ingredients Laboratory.
Dr. Venkata Ramanaiah has a great research experience in such universities as the University of Leon, Spain; Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal; as well as universities in South Korea, China and India. Dr. Ramanaiah’s field of research is directly related to ecology and bioenergy. Environmental research is one of three strategic fields of development of science and education at South Ural State University along with digital industry and materials science. Cooperation with the young scientist opens new prospects of development of this field.
To introduce research team of the Department of Food Technology and Biotechnology of the SUSU School of Medical Biology and the SUSU Synthesis and Analysis of Food Ingredients Laboratory, a scientific discussion was held with the Indian scientist. During the discussion session, Dr. Venkata Ramanaiah gave presentation of the results of his research for the staff and postgraduate students of the university. Research of the Indian scientist is aimed at deep wastewater treatment with the use of biofiltration systems based on microorganisms.
“Today’s presentation allowed us to evaluate the research of Dr. Venkata Ramanaiah. I believe that we will have fruitful cooperation in the future, since the Synthesis and Analysis of Food Ingredients Laboratory actively participates in the Ecology cross-disciplinary project. Scientists from South Ural State University develop a hybrid system of wastewater eco-treatment for enterprises of agro-industrial complex. Together with the scientist from India we are planning to create new module systems of water treatment including those using ultrasonic effects,” says Irina Potoroko, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), Professor, Co-Head of the Synthesis and Analysis of Food Ingredients International Laboratory.
The implementation of such environmental projects is aimed at the creation of favourable eco-environment of Chelyabinsk and the region. Moreover, the improvement of water treatment and purification processes is of great importance for the economy of both our country and the whole world.
“SUSU is well-known in the scientific community as a big research centre. The university especially attracts me by the fact that it pays special attention to the international cooperation. Here you can get invaluable experience of cooperation with the Russian and foreign scientists,” says Dr. Ramanaiah.
Engaging young, high-potential and talented Russian and foreign researchers helps to increase the publication activities, the quality of research and developments, as well as the SUSU recognition in the global scientific community.
