Ceremonious opening of the School called “Information Technology Perspectives”, being implemented under support of Rosmolodezh Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, took place on September 17. Participants of the event were about 80 students majoring in IT at the School of Economics and Management and the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, as well as lecturers and partners of the university.
First Deputy Minister of Information Technology and Communication of the Chelyabinsk region, Igor Fetisov, addressed participants of the event with a welcoming speech. He said that our region is in the top-10 substituents of the Russian Federation in the sphere of IT technology, and noted that the Ministry pays a lot of attention to development of IT community in Chelyabinsk. He also noted that the competencies acquired at school might form a foundation for further employment of the participants.
Another person delivering a welcoming speech to the participants was Director of the SUSU Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Alena Zamyshlyaeva. She expressed her delight by the fact that the idea to establish some IT community at the university evolved into an event supported by the grant from Rosmolodezh. Alena Zamyshlyaeva also drawn students’ attention to the fact that the School’s programme has been elaborated at direct participation of partner companies, and that it is targeted at studying the fields which are not taught at the university, and that students got a unique chance to directly talk to people applying this knowledge in practice.
The Rosmolodezh’s grant to arrange the school has been obtained by the student team which presented the Story of Success to participants of the event: from an idea to the grant. Students talked about the previous offsite events held under the leadership of Vadim Kosterin and Elena Bunova, lecturers at the Department of Information Technology in Economics of the School of Economics and Management, and about how the concept of informal communication with employer representatives at the premises of Nauka camp transformed into a full-scale project of learning contemporary IT technologies.
The event also featured representatives of IT companies which are the School’s partners.
Yaroslav Golub, Director of INTEC Company, said that the whole IT science is exceptionally practice. Meanwhile, practical experience only comes with real projects. The role of INTEC Company is in providing students with such precise experience. Attendees of the School have an exceptional opportunity to talk to people possessing a colossal experience in the sphere of development, and get this experience according to the saying: “In order to grow in life, one needs to work with people who are growing”.
In his turn, Boris Stepanov, Chief Technology Officer of the Prikladnye Tekhnologii (Applied Technology) Company, noted that the School of Perspective Information Technology will provide its attendees with extra advantages for their further employment to IT companies.
Veniamin Mustafin, the leader of FUSE8 projects, noted that by arranging joint events with SUSU their company is trying to create and develop some IT culture which will allow for those attending the School to engage oneself in the IT sphere in Chelyabinsk.
Anton Starikov, a representative of Xpage Company, stressed the interest of their company to perform training of the event participants in website development. He also expressed readiness to cooperate with everyone willing to promote one’s skills in IT technology.
Supervisor of the project, Elena Bunova, Candidate of Sciences (Engineerign), Associate Professor at the Department of Information Technology in Economics, specialist of the Department of Innovations, also delivered a welcoming speech. She noted that students, while improving the level of their competencies in the IT sphere, should also take part in innovative development of the country. Her speech was addressed to those who want to improve the world by implementing their innovative ideas. She invited everyone to take part in the U.M.N.I.K contest and offered her assistance and consultation in the issues regarding submission of applications. The contest is to be held at our university on the 27th and 28th of November.
Veronika Lipina, Head of the Counseling and Development Department at the Business Incubation Centre, talked about state property support of businesses. The Centre provides consulting services in the issues of entrepreneurial activity, starting from legislative issues and to marketing ones.
Elena Bunova, under direct supervision of which the Rosmolodezh’s grant had been obtained, also expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication of the Chelyabinsk region, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk region, the leadership of the School of Economics and Management, the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, the department of Research and Innovation Services, the Extracurricular Activities Department, and the leaders of IT companies for their active support of the SUSU School of Information Technology Perspectives.
