March 18th through 24th, an Institute of Engineering and Technology Week will be held at South Ural State University. The Institute’s students and teachers will take part in various events to strengthen the corporate culture.
The Institute of Engineering and Technology unites all of the engineering academic divisions at SUSU: the Automobile and Tractor, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical and Technology, Power Engineering faculties, and the Faculty of Materials Science and Metallurgical Technology. This event is meant to show the unity of all of these faculties and the uniqueness of each of them.
The Institute of Engineering and Technology Week is held with the goal of forming the values and personal qualities necessary for efficient academic, scientific, and professional activities, and promoting the formation of civil attitude and patriotism among the students. It will help demonstrate the life of the Institute and the achievements of its students.
The SUSU Institute of Engineering and Technology Week will involve meetings between students and the faculty deans. The students will hear about the strategic directions of development at each faculty and the specifics of project-based learning – the new academic technology launched at SUSU in the 2018-2019 academic year, and about elite training. Students will be able to personally ask the deans any questions that are of interest to them. In addition, each faculty will award its most outstanding students.
Another important part of this Week will be the Day of Student Science of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. Master’s students and postgraduates from each faculty will report on the results of all of their work within project-based learning or participation in relevant Olympiads. The event is aimed at second- and third-year students to stimulate their interest in science and innovation activity.
Students of the first, second, and third years will be invited to take part in MetalQuest, a scientific entertainment event by the Faculty of Materials Science and Metallurgical Technology. The participants of the quest will have to figure out what differentiates steel from iron, metals from non-metals, will complete tests and learn the secrets of real metallurgists. The students can look forward to the creation of new constructions with welding, casting, and additive technologies and surviving an open-hearth furnace at a metallurgical factory.
The quest will be held March 20th from 15:00 to 17:00. To participate, you must fill out the Registration Form before March 19th.
Students can also participate in the Institute of Engineering and Technology Indoor Football Championship.
The key event of the week will be the awards ceremony for the winners of the IET: Best of the Best 2019 contest. Students with good academic performance who have demonstrated significant results in social work and science will be awarded. Each faculty has chosen three winners in the categories: “For Contribution to Student Self-government”, “Best Student of the Faculty”, and “For Contribution and Development of Student Science.”
