January 31st through February 5th of 2019, first-year students of the Institute of Engineering and Technology’s Faculty of Aerospace Engineering took part in Winter session of CanSat Aerospace Engineering School in Russia.
The event was held in Lomonosov MSU and organised by ROSCOSMOS State Corporation for Space Activities, MSU’s NRI of Nuclear Physics and MSU’s Aerospace Engineering Laboratory. Within the Winter Aerospace Engineering School, students attended lectures on Cosmic Physics, Cosmonautics, Programming, Satellite-and Rocket Engineering; they also worked in MSU NRINP’s Laboratory for Radioactive Decay Study, and visited the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Selective session concluded with defense of collective projects and awarding the winners at the Cosmonautics and Aviation Centre at VDNH.
“We learned a lot of new interesting things, got many positive emotions, and our desire to keep working has strengthened. We managed to defend our project successfully and make it to the final, despite the fact that this is the first time we participate in this event. This competition brought together about 200 teams from all around the country; they took part in various categories. We performed well thanks to our research supervisor, Yury Khishchenko, who helped us find the right ways in solving the problem and taught us a lot,” says one of participants of the Winter session of CanSat Aircraft Engineering School, first-year student Pavel Tretyakov.
