South Ural State University was visited by a delegation from Southwest Forestry University (China) intended to discuss prospects of cooperation with SUSU.
The delegation included Vice-President of Southwest Forestry University, Xu Hui, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Yang Song, and Dean of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Yang Yongfa.
Within the first day of the visit, the delegation had a meeting with SUSU’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Andrey Radionov, and SUSU’s Vice-Rector for International Relations, Olga Yaroshenko.
“It is very symbolic that the first delegation in 2019 came from Southwest Forestry University of China. In 2016, we signed a joint Agreement on cooperation. This time, the delegation came to our university to start cooperation in various interaction forms,” says Olga Yaroshenko.
The delegates and SUSU representatives discussed the issues concerning the joint educational project as well as conditions for student exchange within implementation of the 2+2 project.
“In the course of 4-years-long study on the bachelor’s degree programme, students get to study in two universities: 1st- and 2nd-year Chinese students study in their home university and then come to SUSU to complete their 3rd and 4th years of study,” explained Head of the International Office, Liudmila Lapina.
Vice-President of Southwest Forestry University, Xu Hui, shared his impressions of visiting South Ural State University.
“Our delegation came in order to learn more about SUSU. Previously, we used to learn all information from the Internet, so we were happy to see this university with our own eyes. We are very pleased. Last year, we had an agreement with the university’s leadership on a joint programme, so we came and discussed all issues in details in order to successfully implement this programme. Our joint programmes entitled ‘2+2’ and ‘4+2’ allow both master’s degree students and postgraduate students obtain double degree. Our visit was very fruitful. I am grateful to the university’s leadership for a hearty welcome.”
Representatives of the Chinese delegation also visited the SUSU Museum Complex and had an excursion around the university’s research laboratories.
