The SUSU Department of International Relations and Regional Studies would like to thank all of the participants of the Music of Translation contest, which included contestants from a wide geographical range and presented the work of students not only from South Ural State University, but also from Chelyabinsk State University, the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University, Pushkin Leningrad State University, and Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (Dnipro, Ukraine).
The contest criteria for the works included: completeness of translation; absence of errors, omissions, or arbitrary shortening of the text; compliance with systemic and linguistic norms of the target language; preservation of genre and stylistic characteristics of the source text; variety of translation techniques; presence of artistic and expressive means; optimal performance of the communicative task; compliance with the form of presentation of the translation.
80 translations were sent in to the competition, which made the jury’s task of choosing a winner difficult. They agreed to assign the top three places to:
- 1st place– Shikhovets Anna, Plekhanov RUE (Moscow)
- 2nd place – Abdulmanova Maria, Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University (Magnitogorsk)
- 3rd place – Ilya Kalmykov, South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk)
