On December 10 at 11.00, the Arts Hall in the main building of SUSU is going to open a new exhibition “Preserving Art”, organised by the Department of Theology, Art and Culture, Cultural Theory and History Research and Education Centre, and the SUSU Art Museum.
The exhibition will feature works of prominent Southern Ural artists from the collection of the University’s Art Museum. These are paintings of such artists as V.V. Bubnov, V.N. Dyakov, V.V. Kachalov, L.N. Kostina, A.P. Kudryavtsev, L.Ya. Kudryavtseva, Z.N. Latfulin, V.N. Merkulov, M.P. Mochalova, L.B. Surina, N.Ya. Tretyakov, V.N. Chelintsova, N.I. Cherkasov, V. Shapovalov, E.A. Shchetinkina and others. All works are given to the University as token gift.
The programme includes meet-the-artist sessions. To put a spotlight on works of Southern Ural artists, open painting and drawing workshops will be held for students. It is planned to organise a charity event entitled “The Copyist’s Day”. In this event, students from the Department of Design and Visual Arts at the Faculty of Architecture will copy the best works from the collection of the Art Museum and present them to Chelyabinsk municipal organisations.
Presentation of the Preserving Art Exhibition Album, created by lecturers and students majoring in art, is to be made at the opening ceremony.
The exhibition will be open to the public from December 11, 2018 to February 1, 2019.
