The scariest night of the year is coming, and if you think that watching horror movies is the only way to have fun on Halloween, then read this article. Below you will find ten hilarious Halloween party games perfect for a big company. Make sure you laugh evil spirits away and enjoy fun with your international friends on Halloween!
What’s my thought like?
The players sit in a circle and one of them asks the others: “What’s my thought like?” One player may say: “A monkey”; the second: “A candle”; the third: “A pin”; and so on. When all the company have compared the thought to some object, the first player tells them the thought - perhaps it is “the cat” - and then asks each, in turn, why it is like the object he compared it to.
“Why is my cat like a monkey?” is asked.
The other player might answer: “Because it is full of tricks”.
“Why is my cat like a candle?”
“Because its eyes glow like a candle in the dark.”
“Why is my cat like a pin?”
“Because its claws scratch like a pin.”
Any one who is unable to explain why the thought resembles the object he mentioned must pay a forfeit.
Memory Game
Show guests several Halloween/Fall items on a tray and set a timer for twenty seconds then remove the tray. Have the guests write down as many items as they can remember. Use items such as a mini-pumpkin, a toy black cat, a plastic spider, a piece of candy, mask, etc or get creative and use a small Halloween sign (with bonus points for remembering what it said) and a horror movie DVD, etc. The person who remembers the most items wins a prize.
Halloween Fear Factor
Blindfold the guests and have them put their hand into a bowl or jar filled with something gross to the touch. Then have them guess what they just touched. Some ideas include gelatin, peanut butter, grapes, and crushed Oreos. Award prizes for the people who have the most accurate guesses.
Pass It On Ghost Story
Have everyone sit in a dark room and turn on a flashlight. The person holding the light starts to tell a spooky ghost story. When the timer dings, pass the light to another person. Continue passing until the story comes to a creepy ending!
Shadow Buff
This game is especially suitable for a big party. A sheet of white tablecloth is first of all stretched right across the room, and on a table behind it is placed a bright lamp. All the other lights in the room are then extinguished, and one of the players takes a seat upon a low stool midway between the lamp and the sheet. The other players endeavour to disguise themselves as much as possible, by distorting their features, rumpling their hair, wearing wigs, false noses, etc., and pass one by one behind the player seated on the stool. Their shadows are thus thrown upon the sheet. The aim of the seated player is to guess the identity of the shadows as they pass before him; and the aim of the others is to endeavor by every means in their power to keep him from recognising them. As may be imagined, the task of the single player is not an easy one, the distorted shadows being vastly different from the originals as seen before the lights were extinguished.
Consequences
The players sit in a circle; each person is provided with a half sheet of notepaper and a pencil, and is asked to write on the top - (1) one or more adjectives, then to fold the paper over, so that what has been written cannot be seen. Every player has to pass his or her paper on to the right-hand neighbour, and all have then to write on the top of the paper which has been passed by the left-hand neighbour (2) “the name of the gentleman”; after having done this the paper must again be folded and passed on as before; this time must be written (3) one or more adjectives; then (4) a lady’s name; next (5), where they met; next (6), what he gave her; next (7), what he said to her; next (8), what she said to him; next (9), the consequence; and lastly (10), what the world said about it. Be careful that every time anything has been written the paper is folded down and passed on to the player on your right.
When everyone has written what the world says, the papers are collected and one of the company proceeds to read out the various papers.
Who Are You?
Write down characters from famous horror movies on piece of white cardboard and tape onto the back of each guest. Make sure they don’t see the answer. Other guests offer clues to help this person find out who he/she is. When the person guesses correctly, the ID tag is removed. Have a small prize on hand for each guest to receive and trade it for their ID tag.
Mummy Wrap
Have two team members work together to wrap up one of the team members like a mummy in toilet paper. Whoever is “the mummy” must be completely wrapped (other than face).
Pumpkin Racing
Everyone chooses a pumpkin and must race it from the start to the finish line. There are two main ways to play this. Face only rules, and bum only rules. Both are visually funny from the get go but with face only rules you'll get more amusing head bumps, face plants and peculiar expressions. The choice is yours. The loser must do a forfeit!
Pumpkin Carving
Have your own Pumpkin Carving party and turn those fruits into fun and spooky faces! If you ask people to bring their own pumpkins, buy a few pumpkins anyway, in case someone forgets to bring one. You will also need pumpkin carving kits and pumpkin carving templates for those who like challenges. Express yourself creatively!
P.S. Make sure you have plenty of drinks and snacks, as intricate pumpkin carving can take well over an hour to complete.
Happy Halloween!
